SUMMARY:Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas Membership and Public Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an important community meeting at 6 PM on February 10\, 2026\, at the new Flyway Breckenridge Brewery in the Breckenridge Center at the southeast corner of I-430 and Rodney Parham Blvd. We apologize for the late notice. This conversation is one you will not want to miss. \nOur guest speaker will be Maneesh Krishnan\, Director of Public Works for the City of Little Rock. He will share updates on major alternative and active transportation projects shaping the future of mobility in our city\, including progress on Closing the Loop of the Arkansas River Trail\, the Markham Road Diet\, and several other initiatives aimed at creating safer and more accessible routes for people who walk\, roll\, and ride. \nWhether you are a longtime advocate\, a casual rider\, or simply curious about what is coming next for Little Rock infrastructure\, your voice matters. This is a great chance to learn\, ask questions\, and connect with others who care about building a more bike friendly city. \nWe look forward to seeing you at Flyway Breckenridge Brewery. Grab a drink\, bring a friend\, and help us keep the momentum going for better biking in central Arkansas.

SUMMARY:Black Friday Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join Saline River Canoe\, Arkansas Watertrails Partnership\, and ACC BOATR for the 14th Annual Black Friday Cleanup! Details may change\, but what we are thinking at this time is that we will once again try to have a “downriver” opportunity for those who would like that\, which will most likely be a float from Lyle Park to the Saline River Crossing led by the famous (infamous?) “Chicago Bob” Tyler\, and then a land-based crew that will hit two areas – the flood debris from a former homeless camp near the Interstate 30 crossing\, and the area near the Saline River Crossing\, including a spot known to be subject to illegal dumping.\n\n\n\nSuitable attire for the land-based crew will be any outdoor clothing you are comfortable in\, sturdy shoes\, muck boots\, or hiking boots\, and work gloves. If you have any trash pickers\, you might want to bring them. Bags and “specialty tools” like shovels and saws will be available.\n\n\n\nThe downriver trip will most likely be from Lyle Park to the newly refurbished bridge at the Saline River Crossing. Water level is at 53 cfs on 11/13\, which would mean one or two wades might occur\, but there are several days with rain in the forecast\, so anything is possible\, and it will likely be better. Distance is 3.6 miles\, so this crew should be able to join the Land-Based Crew for the afternoon hot dogs. Boats will be available\, or you can bring your own. Shuttle will be provided. You need to have your own “temperature-appropriate” river clothing. That could be a drysuit\, a wetsuit\, or just a dry bag with a change of warm clothes\, as long as you’ve got some level of experience boating in cooler temperatures with whatever setup you choose.\n\n\n\nForecast (updated 11/13): High of 60 degrees\, 20% chance of rain. (Check back for updates)\n\n\n\nNote: We are not creating an “Event” page due to Facebook restrictions on editing Event details as needed\, but feel free to share this post with others. Just let us know in the comments if you think you might be able to join\, and we will try to not run out of hot dogs and/or burgers!

SUMMARY:Close the Loop Public Forum
DESCRIPTION:What’s It About?\nThe City of Little Rock Public Works Department\, Civil Engineering Division\, will present plans for the Arkansas River Trail – Cantrell Road Connection. SUMMARY:Ozark Society-Pulaski Chapter Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Joe Jacobs shares his insights on the controversial topic\, Rebranding the Buffalo. Mr. Jacobs will be presenting about the interest that Runway Group\, co-founded by Stuart Walton and Tom Walton\, has in changing the designation of the Buffalo National River to a National Park. He will explore some of the reasons for making and not making the designation change. Mr. Jacobs\, who first wrote about this topic on his website ArkansasOutside.com in October 2023\, served as the marketing and revenue manager for Arkansas State Parks for 17 years\, and has been the owner/editor of Arkansas Outside since 2011. This\, along with his extensive travel and connections throughout the state\, has helped him become an authority on outdoor recreation in\nArkansas. \nA bit of background on this issue – Ozark Society President Brian Thompson sent to our membership last November the organization’s current position on the redesignation: Regarding the proposed reclassification of the Buffalo National River to a “park-preserve\,” we recognized this as a very preliminary idea. For that reason\, we felt that continued listening was more prudent than an early conclusion. The proposal has since been withdrawn but we continue to watch in case there are any further developments. Irrespective of recent events\, rest assured that our independent advocacy for the preservation of the Buffalo National River\, is bedrock to our organization’s mission.
