SUMMARY:Southwest Trail in Saline County Groundbreaking
DESCRIPTION:We’re breaking ground on the first segment of the Southwest Trail in Saline County!\n\n\n\nJoin us Wednesday\, May 14\, at 10:30 A.M. as we celebrate the start of a 2.5-mile stretch that will run from the Pulaski/Saline County line to Germania Road—marking a significant milestone in bringing this regional trail to life.\n\n\n\nWhen complete\, the Southwest Trail will span 65 miles from Hot Springs to Little Rock\, creating new opportunities for walking\, biking\, and exploring right here in Saline County.\n\n\n\nLocation: Across the road from Little Sprouts Academy — 14803 N. Sardis Rd. Mabelvale\, AR\n\n\n\nBe a part of history as we pave the way—literally—for something incredible!\n\n\nOnce this section is completed it will connect to the first phase already open in Pulaski County at the Saline/Pulaski county line. This will create a total of approximately 7  miles of paved trail between Germania Road in Saline County and Hilaro Springs Road in Pulaski County.

SUMMARY:Close the Loop Public Forum
DESCRIPTION:What’s It About?\nThe City of Little Rock Public Works Department\, Civil Engineering Division\, will present plans for the Arkansas River Trail – Cantrell Road Connection. This key segment between Water Works Road and LaHarpe Boulevard will complete a vital missing link in the trail system\, helping to Close the Loop for safer\, continuous access along the River Trail. \nThis is the section of the trail between Bruce Moore Drive (formerly Arch St.)\, behind City Hall\, to the Gill Street Bridge west of Dillard’s Headquarters on the north side of Cantrell Road. \nCity representatives will be available to discuss the design\, answer questions\, and collect feedback from the public. \n\n\n\nWhy It Matters\nCompleting the Arkansas River Trail enhances connectivity\, safety\, and recreation for all users—cyclists\, runners\, and pedestrians alike. Your input helps ensure that this community project reflects the needs of everyone who enjoys our trail system. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact:\nFernando Villa\, Civil Engineering Division\n📞 (501) 371-4808 \n\n\n\n🎉 Let’s make it happen—join us and help Close the Loop!

SUMMARY:Black Friday Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Join Saline River Canoe\, Arkansas Watertrails Partnership\, and ACC BOATR for the 14th Annual Black Friday Cleanup! Details may change\, but what we are thinking at this time is that we will once again try to have a “downriver” opportunity for those who would like that\, which will most likely be a float from Lyle Park to the Saline River Crossing led by the famous (infamous?) “Chicago Bob” Tyler\, and then a land-based crew that will hit two areas – the flood debris from a former homeless camp near the Interstate 30 crossing\, and the area near the Saline River Crossing\, including a spot known to be subject to illegal dumping.\n\n\n\nSuitable attire for the land-based crew will be any outdoor clothing you are comfortable in\, sturdy shoes\, muck boots\, or hiking boots\, and work gloves. If you have any trash pickers\, you might want to bring them. Bags and “specialty tools” like shovels and saws will be available.\n\n\n\nThe downriver trip will most likely be from Lyle Park to the newly refurbished bridge at the Saline River Crossing. Water level is at 53 cfs on 11/13\, which would mean one or two wades might occur\, but there are several days with rain in the forecast\, so anything is possible\, and it will likely be better. Distance is 3.6 miles\, so this crew should be able to join the Land-Based Crew for the afternoon hot dogs. Boats will be available\, or you can bring your own. Shuttle will be provided. You need to have your own “temperature-appropriate” river clothing. That could be a drysuit\, a wetsuit\, or just a dry bag with a change of warm clothes\, as long as you’ve got some level of experience boating in cooler temperatures with whatever setup you choose.\n\n\n\nForecast (updated 11/13): High of 60 degrees\, 20% chance of rain. (Check back for updates)\n\n\n\nNote: We are not creating an “Event” page due to Facebook restrictions on editing Event details as needed\, but feel free to share this post with others. Just let us know in the comments if you think you might be able to join\, and we will try to not run out of hot dogs and/or burgers!
