SUMMARY:Ride of Silence - Little Rock
DESCRIPTION:​The Ride of Silence is an annual international cycling event that honors cyclists who have been injured or killed while riding on public roadways. Participants engage in a silent\, slow-paced ride—typically not exceeding 12 mph (20 km/h)—to raise awareness among motorists\, law enforcement\, and city officials about cyclists’ legal rights to share the road. ​ \nEstablished in 2003 by Chris Phelan in Dallas\, Texas\, the inaugural ride commemorated endurance cyclist Larry Schwartz\, who was fatally struck by a passing bus’s mirror. Although initially intended as a one-time event\, its poignant message resonated globally\, leading to its annual observance on the third Wednesday of May. By 2024\, the Ride of Silence had expanded to 239 locations worldwide\, encompassing 40 U.S. states\, 14 countries\, and 3 continents. \nParticipants are expected to wear helmets\, adhere to traffic laws\, and maintain silence throughout the ride\, fostering a solemn atmosphere of remembrance and advocacy. The event underscores the importance of sharing the road safely and respectfully among all users. ​

SUMMARY:The Skirmish
DESCRIPTION:A Delta Gravel Festival in Jonesboro\, Arkansas. \nThe Skirmish is more than just a cycling event\, it’s a celebration of the rugged beauty\, rich culture\, and tight-knit community of the Delta region. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or new to gravel cycling\, this festival offers something for everyone. The festival was created to embrace all aspects of gravel cycling with one main feature not found in the majority of gravel events; the tale of 2 rides. Riders will first traverse the rolling hills of Crowley’s Ridge\, similar to those found on the Ouachita and Ozark Mountain Regions.  Crowley’s Ridge is a 200-mile long ridge that was formed by wind\, water\, and ice over millions of years. It’s believed to have been an island between the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers that was isolated after the rivers changed course. \nAfter tackling Crowley’s Ridge\, riders will then experience the vast farmlands of the Delta (which supplies the nation with a bounty of food and feed to sustain our republic) during the final two thirds of the ride.  Riders will be treated to the wide-open flat farm roads of the region\, separated only by endless fields of crops\, to bring you home. Late May\, early June should see a tailwind blowing from the southwest to guide you home to the finish and a post-ride celebration in the historic downtown of Jonesboro\, Arkansas. \nThe name of the ride comes from a historical battle called “The Civil War Skirmish” which was fought in 1863. Jonesboro is located in the northeast part of Arkansas and has the perfect mix of a small town community atmosphere combined with a vibrant downtown\, world-class healthcare\, specialty manufacturing with world wide distribution as well as cutting edge technology companies and advanced-degree educational system. This offers athletes and their friends and family a perfect setting to come experience a true festival atmosphere over the three days of The Skirmish. \nOverall Event Schedule: \n\nThursday – Group rides\nFriday – Group rides\, vendor expo\, athlete meeting\, welcome party and free live music for everyone.\nSaturday –\n\nthe main event with four ride distances and a post-ride celebration.\nFriends and family will have plenty to do while their riders are out on course with kids and family activities at the finish line area. Saturday night will be a great time to explore what Jonesboro has to offer.\n\n\nSunday – a day to “relax” with a short ride on offer and then the final scheduled events of the festival. Participants and their traveling companions will be treated to a video and photo collage from the weekend. This visual wrap up will be immediately followed with an awards and prize giveaway ceremony to tie a bow on a great weekend of an all-things gravel experience.

SUMMARY:June Bug Jam
DESCRIPTION:On June 7\, 2025 we are hosting a music fundraiser ( the 28th Annual June Bug Jam) complete with live music\, childrens activities and games\, a treasure hunt\, nature walks and a series of guided mountain bike rides on the nearby Ozark National Forest Upper Buffalo Mountain Bike Trails. This year we will be offering food plates\, desserts and beverages and holding a silent fundraising auction with goods and services donated by local artists and businesses. We work closely with the Ozark OffRoad Cyclists (OORC)\, another local nonprofit group\, on events during the year and they are supporting this year’s JBJ by bringing out a smoker/cooker for meats\, supplying two longtime club members to volunteer operating the smoker and serving plates of food. The OORC is also donating various meats and sides for these meals.

SUMMARY:Major Taylor 111 at the Port
DESCRIPTION:“Major Taylor 111 at the Port” is a cycling event created through a partnership of the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Little Rock (MTCCLR) and the local non-profit Recycle Bikes for Kids (RB4K). \nMT111 will become one of the most sought-after cycling events in the country. Supported by the Little Rock Port Authority\, local cyclists and bike enthusiasts from around the country will want to attend for the unique aspects of this ride with a Major Taylor flavor. \nOn June 7th\, starting at the Little Rock Port Authority headquarters\, participants will ride through the Port\, visit Wrightsville\, Redfield\, and continue to Pine Bluff. Riders then proceed to the Arkansas River crossing on Highway 79 and visit England\, Keo\, and Scott before returning to the Port.  The route is one hundred and eleven miles long with shorter options of 62 miles\, 50 miles\, and 25 miles.  There will also be a one-mile sprint segment honoring the race that made Marshall “Major” Taylor a world champion. Sprint through the one-mile Strava segment setup within the MT111 and compare your time to Major Taylor’s winning time at the 1899 World Track Championships of 1 minute\, 41 seconds. \nThis ride will benefit underserved communities. The Major Taylor Cycling Club members will visit schools\, educate students about bicycles\, distribute free bicycles from RB4K\, and hand out books about U.S. pro rider Marshall “Major” Taylor. This not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also provides a means to exercise for the youth in the state of Arkansas. \nIn addition\, this ride will allow RB4K and MTCCLR to purchase and install bicycle repair stations at the schools\, which helps the community where the bike stations are placed\, and helps the cycling community as a whole. SUMMARY:Big Dam Bridge Training Ride Program 2025
DESCRIPTION:Registration for the 2025 Big Dam Bridge Training Program Is Open.  \nThe program is free to participants who have registered for the event by midnight on June 13th. After June 14th\, there is a fee of $45 for the training program (with or without registering for the BDB100 ride). \nThe Big Dam Bridge Training Ride Program was developed to encourage more cyclists from Arkansas to register for and ride in the annual Big Dam Bridge cycling event. This program is part of a larger goal of encouraging individuals to connect with other cyclists\, clubs\, and bike shops. We hope to foster a spirit of community and help relieve concerns related to riding in a group.  Additionally\, this effort includes several Big Dam Bridge sponsor activations as well as other local events when appropriate. \nThe training rides will begin on June 14th and continue every other Saturday through September 20th. Each ride will start at 7:30am from Lost Forty Brewing (501 Byrd St\, Little Rock\, AR 72202) and will return to the same location upon completion.  See map LINK for more details on parking. \nRiders will be divided into groups based on experience and ability. These groups will accommodate any level of cyclist; from the absolute beginner who just recently purchased a bike\, an enthusiast who wants to increase his or her mileage and average speed\, as well as a seasoned cyclist who is aiming for their best time for the 105-mile route. \nOn June 11th\, we will host a Q&A session at Lost Forty Brewing (501 Byrd St\, Little Rock\, AR 72202) from 6pm to 7pm that will provide program details including mileage and pacing for each of these groups. We will also introduce our Training Ride Team of Coaches and Leaders to the attendees. \nEach ride will feature a sponsoring Bike Club and/or Shop and will include a short training topic from one of our Coaches as well as an introduction to the sponsoring Club or Shop. Additionally\, Subaru of Little Rock will be providing a vehicle to serve as mobile nutrition\, repair\, and SAG support if needed. It will prepare the participant to easily complete the 25-mile route of the BDB with a possible stretch to the 50-mile distance. \n“B” Riders – These riders have about 2-5 years of on-the-bike experience\,  regularly ride 2 to 3 times a week during the riding season (April-October)\, and supplement their fitness through other activities such as a gym membership or at-home trainer. The ride leaders for this group will focus on refining shifting and braking while introducing the basic concepts of pace line and cooperative group riding. \nThis group will be prepared to complete the 50-mile route faster than previous attempts and possibly stretch to the 75-mile route.  Nutrition strategy will also be discussed and refined throughout the 8 training rides. \n“A” Riders – These riders are already cycling enthusiasts who are looking to further improve their fitness and skills. The OORC has waived all Junior registration fees for the race in a continued effort to make mountain biking more accessible for our youth. Parent Note – Kids 13 and under are allowed to get a FREE yearly license or will need to hold a one-day or annual USAC license for insurance/liability and those may be purchased in the pre-registration process for just $15 (one day). AMBCS waives the  hard plate fee as well. \nThere is NO on-site registration available. \nAll racers are asked to enter the State Park down Piney Rd. (paved) and follow arrows to the event grounds located at the parking lot along Townsends Ridge Rd. DESCRIPTION:Curious about Enduro Mountain Bike Racing? Not sure how an Enduro race works? Let us help you get your feet wet with the Ozark Enduro LITE Series. A short summer series of 3 beginner friendly enduro races. All rider abilities are welcome but the Ozark Enduro Lite Series is aimed at introducing new folks to the awesome sport of Enduro racing. \nEnduro racing is primarily downhill timed segments\, ranging anywhere from just less than a minute per stage to up to 5-6 minutes that may require some pedaling. A typical Ozark Enduro Lite race will consist of 4-6 downhill segments. Your time will start when you enter the top of a segment and will end when you reach the bottom of that segment. There will be connecting routes to transition between each segment that will not be timed. Only the segments are timed. Riders often ride with groups and make new friends while enjoying the trails during the transfers. After completing all the downhill segments\, your total time will be compared with the times of other riders to see how you did. \nYou will be required to have a fully functional bike and a proper helmet. Full face helmets are recommended but not mandatory. Other recommended items are gloves\, eye protection\, knee pads\, elbow pads. We also strongly encourage carrying the necessary items for minor bike repair such as tire plugs\, tubes\, CO2\, spare chain links etc. \nThere will be aid stations\, however\, it is important to carry enough water and nutrition to last throughout the race. Typical durations will be anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the course and each rider’s ability. \nPre Rides are available Saturday mornings 10 am -1 pm.  (courses are open to public).  We will be announcing a guided pre ride.   Race day riders meetings are at 8:45 am.  Race Start 9 am.  You must finish by 12 noon.  Awards about 12:30 approximately. \nNone of these races would be possible without volunteers. Volunteer help will be needed at every race\, and we would love to make you a part of our event and give you some cool swag. There will be multiple volunteer opportunities such as helping at an aid station\, course marshaling\, and race setup and tear down.

DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 17th Edition of the Wampoo Roadeo! \nWe’ve got a new Start Line location and five new routes. This year’s event will take place in Keo\, Arkansas. We are taking over downtown Keo on Saturday\, July 19\, and serving lunch and dessert after the ride on Main Street!\nPlenty of parking available in Keo and plenty of shady areas to hang out after the ride to enjoy tamales\, margaritas\, and Loblolly ice cream and chocolate milk. \n  \nThe Sterling Market Sprint is a Strava segment located XXX.  Look for the checkered feather flags along the route marking the one-mile segment.  The fastest riders through the segment for each route win prizes from Sterling Market.  The market is located at 515 Shall Avenue in Little Rock’s East Village and offers a plethora of local foods\, drinks\, and products. \n  \nFeel free to set up your cycling club tents and hang out at the Finish Line after the ride. Please do not park at the Keo Post Office. \nWampoo Roadeo Packet Pickup\, presented by Subaru of Little Rock\, will be on Thursday\, July 17 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Recycle Bikes for Kids (RB4K) shop at 717 E. 10th Street\, North Little Rock. If you ordered any merch’\, it will available for pick up\, along with your bib number at Packet Pickup. \nIf you want to park at the RB4K shop that day and do some miles\, then come back afterward and party with us\, there is plenty of free parking right in front of the shop.  Or ride over on your bike and make Packet Pickup your rest stop. \nIf you can’t make Packet Pickup\, we’ll have your bib number and anything you ordered at the Start Line before the ride begins.  Look for the yellow pop-up Registration tent. \nPlease note there will be a “Bevis Gate” set up at 9:30 am at XXX. All riders not through the gate by 9:30 am will be directed to the finish line via the XXX. This is for everyone’s protection because of the heat\, humidity and the wind. \nThe Wampoo Roadeo is a fundraiser for Recycle Bikes for Kids.  The mission of RB4K is to give free bikes to kids\, provide adults the opportunity to earn a bike and support bike infrastructure and education in the community. \nSince 2008\, a large part of the mission at RB4K is to get every kid a bike. But as RB4K has grown through the years\, it’s become clear how crucial bike infrastructure\, safety\, and education are to our community. Our new expanded mission addresses that need.
