SUMMARY:The Ride Series MTB Skills Clinics: Bentonville
DESCRIPTION:The Ride Series is different. Your expectations should be high as you enter the hospitality of our classroom setting. A comfortable Kijaro chair awaits your presence and the cover our 10×20 tents provides reprieve from the elements. Prepare yourself to be immersed in an environment that provides the perfect opportunity for you to be open to embracing and practicing the proper technique. Instant feedback from our coaching staff will have you progressing like never before! Are YOU ready?? \nMTB ESSENTIALS: SATURDAY 8-10 \nMTB ESSENTIALS is perfect for the majority of riders out there. This session will cover everything you need to get dialed in for years to come. It all comes down to the basics and having the ability to get multiple reps in our ground school environment is key. \nOur team of coaches will explain the rationale behind the technique\, demonstrate it\, then guide you through it. This instant feedback by coaches with years of real world riding and racing experience is instrumental in your growth during this session. \nTopics covered: \nClassroom \n– Basic Bike Setup \n– Body Positioning Overview \nTechnique \n– Body Positioning \n– Dynamic Braking \n– Intro to Cornering \nWe GUARANTEE a massive boost in confidence and fun on the trail! The best upgrade to ANY bike is a BETTER RIDER! \n  \nJUMP BASICS:  \nWe get it\, everyone wants to jump! However\, most people don’t embrace the technique AND psychology behind doing it well. You have to understand the what and why before you can start to build confidence with the how\, that’s what this session is for. Not only will you build a solid understanding of what NEEDS to happen\, you’ll also get plenty of reps working through the steps of how it needs to happen\, all in a safe and controlled environment. \nTopics Covered: \nRiders will get plenty of reps on multiple takeoffs/landings and Rich will work through multiple rounds of video so you can see exactly what’s working and what isn’t. \nJUMP PROGRESSION Session: Ground School and Skills Park Jumpline \nThis event is all about getting comfortable in the air. That starts with a solid understanding of what it takes to get into the air properly. It’s also critical to get as MANY reps as possible in a controlled environment and that’s what the TRS ground school setting gives you. \nOur Pro level coaches break down the dynamics involved with jumping a bike. Based on over 70 years experience\, they guide you through their real world experience and give you key insight and cues on what to do and also what not to do. \nAfter showcasing the proper technique\, you’ll work through a series of reps and the distance will incrementally increase as your comfort level increases. Analysis and feedback using slow motion video will have you “busting big” in no time. \nThere’s no substitute for experience when it comes to jumping a bike. The only problem is that experience in the right setting can be hard to come by. You’ll get tons reps on our jump lines and receive valuable feedback in the moment.\nRIDERS MUST HAVE:\n– Experience jumping\n– Full suspension bikes with suspension in working order\n– Full safety gear including pads (Full Face helmet not required\, but suggested) \nThis class is intended for riders with jump experience and will move at a specified pace. Coaching staff reserves the right to hold riders to pre determined distances based on performance. \nPlease reach out if you are unsure if this class is a proper fit for you. \nDROP PROGRESSION Session: Ground School and Skills Park drops \nThe Drop Progression session is designed to help riders overcome fear and build competence when tackling drops. Through a structured\, step-by-step approach\, participants learn essential techniques such as body positioning\, bike control\, and speed management. Starting with small\, manageable features\, the course gradually introduces more challenging drops\, ensuring riders develop the necessary skills and confidence to handle various trail scenarios. By focusing on progressive learning and practical application\, this course aims to transform apprehension into mastery\, enabling riders to navigate drops with assurance and control.

SUMMARY:Ozark Enduro Lite Race 1 Bella Vista
DESCRIPTION:Curious about Enduro Mountain Bike Racing? Not sure how an Enduro race works? Let us help you get your feet wet with the Ozark Enduro LITE Series. A short summer series of 3 beginner friendly enduro races. All rider abilities are welcome but the Ozark Enduro Lite Series is aimed at introducing new folks to the awesome sport of Enduro racing. \nEnduro racing is primarily downhill timed segments\, ranging anywhere from just less than a minute per stage to up to 5-6 minutes that may require some pedaling. A typical Ozark Enduro Lite race will consist of 4-6 downhill segments. Your time will start when you enter the top of a segment and will end when you reach the bottom of that segment. There will be connecting routes to transition between each segment that will not be timed. Only the segments are timed. Riders often ride with groups and make new friends while enjoying the trails during the transfers. After completing all the downhill segments\, your total time will be compared with the times of other riders to see how you did. \nYou will be required to have a fully functional bike and a proper helmet. Full face helmets are recommended but not mandatory. Other recommended items are gloves\, eye protection\, knee pads\, elbow pads. We also strongly encourage carrying the necessary items for minor bike repair such as tire plugs\, tubes\, CO2\, spare chain links etc. \nThere will be aid stations\, however\, it is important to carry enough water and nutrition to last throughout the race. Typical durations will be anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the course and each rider’s ability. \nPre Rides are available Saturday mornings 10 am -1 pm.  (courses are open to public).  We will be announcing a guided pre ride.   Race day riders meetings are at 8:45 am.  Race Start 9 am.  You must finish by 12 noon.  Awards about 12:30 approximately. \nNone of these races would be possible without volunteers. Volunteer help will be needed at every race\, and we would love to make you a part of our event and give you some cool swag. There will be multiple volunteer opportunities such as helping at an aid station\, course marshaling\, and race setup and tear down.

SUMMARY:Wampoo Roadeo
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 17th Edition of the Wampoo Roadeo! \nWe’ve got a new Start Line location and five new routes. This year’s event will take place in Keo\, Arkansas. We are taking over downtown Keo on Saturday\, July 19\, and serving lunch and dessert after the ride on Main Street!\nPlenty of parking available in Keo and plenty of shady areas to hang out after the ride to enjoy tamales\, margaritas\, and Loblolly ice cream and chocolate milk. \n  \nThe Sterling Market Sprint is a Strava segment located XXX.  Look for the checkered feather flags along the route marking the one-mile segment.  The fastest riders through the segment for each route win prizes from Sterling Market.  The market is located at 515 Shall Avenue in Little Rock’s East Village and offers a plethora of local foods\, drinks\, and products. \n  \nFeel free to set up your cycling club tents and hang out at the Finish Line after the ride. Please do not park at the Keo Post Office. \nWampoo Roadeo Packet Pickup\, presented by Subaru of Little Rock\, will be on Thursday\, July 17 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Recycle Bikes for Kids (RB4K) shop at 717 E. 10th Street\, North Little Rock. If you ordered any merch’\, it will available for pick up\, along with your bib number at Packet Pickup. \nIf you want to park at the RB4K shop that day and do some miles\, then come back afterward and party with us\, there is plenty of free parking right in front of the shop.  Or ride over on your bike and make Packet Pickup your rest stop. \nIf you can’t make Packet Pickup\, we’ll have your bib number and anything you ordered at the Start Line before the ride begins.  Look for the yellow pop-up Registration tent. \nPlease note there will be a “Bevis Gate” set up at 9:30 am at XXX. All riders not through the gate by 9:30 am will be directed to the finish line via the XXX. This is for everyone’s protection because of the heat\, humidity and the wind. \nThe Wampoo Roadeo is a fundraiser for Recycle Bikes for Kids.  The mission of RB4K is to give free bikes to kids\, provide adults the opportunity to earn a bike and support bike infrastructure and education in the community. \nSince 2008\, a large part of the mission at RB4K is to get every kid a bike. But as RB4K has grown through the years\, it’s become clear how crucial bike infrastructure\, safety\, and education are to our community. Our new expanded mission addresses that need. Proceeds from this ride\, which will continue honoring the life and legacy of Marilyn Fulper\, will now directly help fund all of RB4K’s future infrastructure projects. \nMAPS \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/38489422 62-mile route \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/38489439 40-mile route \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/38489443 26-mile route

SUMMARY:Tour de Salvation
DESCRIPTION:Your registration fee benefits The Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope program. This program provides individualized services to families with children who desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. It seeks to address the root causes of poverty in addition to The Army’s history of compassionate serving. By helping families overcome challenges like unemployment\, unstable housing\, and lack of education\, we can lead families down a path toward increased stability and\, ultimately\, self-sufficiency. \nJoin us for a family friendly\, multi “bike”\, ride in our beautiful Hot Springs!\nYou will have the option to ride your road bike only\, MTB only\, or BOTH!! Yes\, we will have routes that include both road AND mountain. We will have a shuttle for your bikes at the exchange location. \nAfter you have worked up a good appetite come celebrate your finish at our After Party. (Farmers Market) Your “tour” registration includes food and drink\, t-shirt\, and other awesome swag. (Family Ride includes Finisher Medal\, food and drink only) We have put in a lot of time into planning\, and months of meetings to bring you a fun unique experience in our beautiful city on your bike! \nCome enjoy live music\, food\, and drinks provided by The Salvation Army Canteen\, and good family fun! Not riding? No worries! You can buy a ticket to the after party and join in on the festivities by being a virtual rider. \nSAG and Aid Stations will be available on each route. \n***Riders must wear bib numbers (supplied with registration) to obtain food and access to certain areas of the route. Medical support will be available; however\, medical personnel will not be dispensing comfort medications such as: aspirin\, ibuprofen\, Tylenol. Participants are asked to bring their own comfort medications as needed. \nHelmets are required for ALL riders regardless of the route you ride or your age. \nPlease download and save the route you plan to ride!!! All the routes will be well marked but it always helps to have the route on your bike computer! All routes are below. \nFull Tour de Salvation\nIf you plan to ride the Full Tour route\, you have the option to bring two different bikes. Many riders will ride the road route with a road bike (or gravel bike) and then switch to their mountain bike (MTB). Or you can complete the entire ride on your MTB!  If you plan to switch bikes\, remember to bring the shoes you need for each bike! You will need to “check in” your mountain bike and MTB shoes by 6:45 am on the day of the event. Your MTB will be shuttled to the switch point. Once you switch bikes at the trail\, you will leave your road bike at the switch point and it will be shuttled back to the start point. After completing the mountain bike trail ride at the Pullman Trailhead\, you will simply ride your MTB on the road for 2.5 miles back through downtown (bathhouse row) to the Farmer’s Market. SUMMARY:99 Miles of Bad Road
DESCRIPTION:99 Miles of Bad Road is a gravel bicycle race starting and ending in Hardy\, Arkansas.  Expect every road surface type\, with roughly 80% being unpaved.  Don’t let the elevation profile of the GPX fool you – Garmin devices have picked up 100 feet or more of elevation gain per mile. These are relentless rolling hills with an occasional punchy climb or sketchy descent.  Everything from mud\, dirt\, gravel\, concrete bridges\, clay\, crushed limestone\, creek rocks\, broken pavement\, and more.  This route earns it’s name. \nAll finishers will receive a cool memento! Top 3 in each Category will receive awards. Overall winner will receive a unique custom award. \nOh\, and we also have a 199 Mile route option… \nCheck the website and Facebook regularly for updates! \n————– \n-Both distances of this race are loop routes that start and end at Loberg Park in Hardy\, Arkansas.  Camping is available at the campground next door to the park.  We have nothing to do with that\, you’ll have to reserve with them here if you wish to camp: https://www.campspot.com/park/hardy-campground-rv-park \n-Unless there are tornadoes\, large hail\, or extreme thunderstorms the day of the race\, we will not cancel.  Put your big boy/girl pants on\, and ride! \n-There will be some water drops and aid stations along the way\, as well as a drop-bag option for the 199’ers. We will update the Ride With GPS route maps to reflect the locations closer to race day. \n-You are solely responsible for your own safety. We will however require a headlight\, flashlight\, or headlamp\, a whistle/horn\, at least 2L of water capacity\, and an emergency blanket/bivy\, and either a phone\, GPS\, or Bicycle computer. \n– We will make no claim as to whether the course will be marked or not. You are responsible for studying the route maps and navigating.  That’s half the fun!

SUMMARY:Newton County Brutality
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Newton County Mentality\nThree Days of Bikes and Community\nFriday:\nWe’ll start things off on Friday afternoon with a 3-4 mile time trial that stays within the canyon walls\, ripping around on the gravel and world-class singletrack at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch (HCR). You’ll choose your bike\, but choose wisely cause you have to use that bike on Saturday and Sunday too. Finish the day with a meal in the Lodge Restaurant\, a campfire with friends\, and a good night’s rest in the cool fall temperatures. \nSaturday:\nThe big day — you’ll set out to tackle the best\, and hardest gravel riding in the state of Arkansas. This is backcountry gravel at its finest: big climbs\, fast and technical descents\, remote roads\, and the best views that the Ozark Mountains have to offer (remember\, it’s peak fall foliage). You’ll choose between 65- and 40-mile categories\, each expecting around 9\,000 and 5\,000 feet of climbing\, respectively.\nReturn to the ranch tired and empty\, then fill your bellies with a huge helping at the Lodge Restaurant (they call it “adventure nutrition meets local tradition”). Live music will ensue in the field below the lodge\, and although you’ll likely be cracked from the day of pedaling you’ll want to dance the night away with drinks in hand. And it’ll be ok cause the next day’s challenge plays on the word “fun\,” not “difficult.” \nSunday:\nGrab your friends (or enemies)\, take your clue card\, and adventure around the ranch on your bike\, completing challenges in a scavenger hunt-style format. CHILL PACE – WE AIN’T TIMING YOU! Bring your proof of completion back to the Trading Post\, and you’ve conquered the most famous stage farce on the planet. Awards will be given\, laughs will be had\, and then tents will be packed up. SUMMARY:RYDB Fest - Community Overnighter
DESCRIPTION:The Ride Your Damn Bike Festival invites you to ride your damn bike\, any damn way you want.  We’ve got a weekend full of fun and diverse options for you to choose from.  For my part\, Bikes or Death will be leading a beginner friendly\, lightly supported\, no drop\, community overnighter. \nWe’ll be riding the Bikepacking Roots’ Devils Den Loop (short & long) which is part of their Fayetteville Bikepacking Route Network with an overnight community camp + optional evening activities at Devil’s Den State Park. \nDevil’s Den State Park is a scenic gem nestled in the steep terrain of the western Boston Mountains. This is the most demanding of the three “overnight” route options in the Fayetteville bikepacking route network – the terrain becomes more rugged southwest of town in the high Ozark’s. The route is a mix of maintained gravel roads and pavement\, with three 600- to 1\,000-foot climbs with expansive vistas and numerous resupply options along the way. We’ve reserved the group camp site at Devil’s Den which can accommodate 75 people.  Once at camp riders will have a couple (optional) activities to choose from.  Either a hike up to Yellow Rock (rated the #5 hiking trail in all of Arkansas) or a Singletrack ride with a stop at Yellow Rock to meet up with the Hikers.  We’ll provide some snacks and beverages for all to enjoy while we watch the sunset and revel in our decisions to get outside\, ride our damn bikes\, and make new friends.  Riders will be responsible for their own dinner and breakfast\, but the State Park does have a cafe that is open from 9am – 7pm. \nThis is a beginner friendly focused ride\, but everyone is welcome to come ride with us at a chill pace.  We will have ride leaders and sweepers\, mechanics on the ride to help with any mechanicals\, and a sag vehicle that can assist with carrying gear and/or you and your bike to camp if needed.  We also have a Carry My Damn Shit option for riders who don’t want to be lugged down by the additional weight.  Moral of the story\, you wanna ride your damn bike\, but you’re not sure if this route is obtainable for you\, we invite you to push your limits with the assurance that we got your back and one way or another we’re gonna get you and your shit to camp! \n\nRoutes \n\nDay 1 \n\nDevil’s Den Loop (short)\n\n43 miles\n2\,900’ elevation gain\n\n\nDevil’s Den Loop (long)\n\n53 miles\n3\,700’ elevation gain\n\n\n\nDay 2 \n\nDevil’s Den: Return to Fayetteville\n\n30 miles\n2\,100’ elevation gain\n\n\n\nOvernighter Itinerary \n\nDay 1 – Sept. 20th \n\n8am: Coffee & cheer on the racers as they embark on the Fayetteville Ultra Circuit\n9am: Community Overnighter Grand Depart\nRide 53 miles (long) or 43 miles (short)\nWe have a group campsite reserved for all participants\nOnce at camp we have a couple of optional activities for you to participate in\n\nYellow Rock Hike – 4 mile round trip hike up to Yellow Rock\nYellow Rock Singletrack Ride – a 13 mile singletrack ride with a stop at Yellow Rock to join the hikers\n\nAt Yellow Rock we’ll provide some snacks and beverages for you to enjoy while we watch the sunset.  Bring Lights for the hike/ride back to camp\n\n\n\n\nParticipants are responsible for their own dinner.  There is a diner at the state park that is open from 9am – 7pm\n10pm: Quiet Time\n\nDay 2 – Sept 21st \n\n8am wake up call\n\nBreak down camp\nParticipants are responsible for their own breakfast.  The State Park Cafe opens at 9am.\n\n\n10am: Roll out – ride 30 miles back to Fayetteville\n\nAbout the Route \n\nThe Devil’s Den Loop departs downtown Fayetteville and meanders southwest out of town on recreation paths\, past Kessler Mountain Park\, and then follows ~6 miles of paved roads before turning toward Prairie Grove on gravel. At mile 20\, riders hit a 600-foot gravel climb\, the first of the route’s three longer climbs\, and ascend to a ridgeline with long views into the Boston Mount to the south and toward where Devil’s Den State Park is nestled. \n\nThe shorter and longer routes split at mile 28\, with the shorter route taking a more direct route to Devil’s Den State Park that is ~10 miles less than the longer option with 800 feet less climbing. The shorter route descends to Cove Creek (a generally reliable water source) and then begins the second of the three long climbs. This one is paved to start\, passes the former Strickler town site\, turns to gravel\, and rolls before the final pitch. The high point of the climb is at mile 36\, and from there\, it’s mostly paved and mostly downhill for ~7 miles to Devil’s Den State Park. The shorter route doesn’t pass any camping options until immediately before the state park boundary.\n \nThe longer version of the loop continues south from mile 28 climbing and then traversing a beautiful gravel road across the long summit of Skylight Mountain. A steep and winding descent brings riders down to Cove Creek at mile 37. From there\, a 600-foot climb leads to the Ozark National Forest boundary at mile 41\, and for the subsequent 6 miles\, there are numerous dispersed camping opportunities. The route descends to a paved road along Fall Creek\, and from the bottom of the downhill\, it’s 6 paved miles with one more shorter climb to Devil’s Den State Park (or riders could turn west for a mile to a beautiful swimming hole at the bridge across Lee Creek).\n \nDevil’s Den State Park offers a wide range of amenities and recreation opportunities. The mountain bike trail network through the canyons and past waterfalls has trails for all skill levels. There’s also a swimming pond\, additional trails for hiking\, and a café and small store. \n\nLeaving the state park\, the route climbs steeply up a switch-backed paved road. At nearly 1\,000 feet\, this is the longest climb on the route\, but from the expansive views at the high point\, the route is mostly a gradual descent all the way back to Fayetteville. The final 5-mile-long section of gravel parallels the towering Interstate 49 bridges. The community of West Fork at mile 59 (69 on the longer loop) has a grocery store and several restaurant options. From there\, it’s just 14 miles back to downtown Fayetteville.\n \nFAQ’s \n\nWhat kind of bike should I ride? We recommend a gravel bike with a minimum of 45mm tires; a mountain bike would also be absolutely fine.  If you’re participating in the optional singletrack ride at camp you’ll probably want to bring your MTB or be comfortable underbiking.\nWhat is the longest distance between resupplies? ~25 to 45 miles\nWhat is the percentage of paved and unpaved? Shorter version: Paved: 70% / Smooth Gravel: 30%. Longer version: Paved: 50% / Smooth Gravel: 50%\nWhat if I need help carrying or curating gear?  Please reach out to us at the email below if you need assistance acquiring gear for this trip.  If you don’t have bikepacking bags or don’t want to carry all your gear to camp we can do it for you for a small fee\, more info on the registration page. \nWhat if I can’t make it to camp? That’s okay!  We will have a sag vehicle that can get you and your gear to camp.  Even if this distance feels a little out of reach we encourage you to push your limits knowing that we will support you and get you to camp one way or another!\nWill there be a mechanic on the ride to help with any trailside repairs?  Yes!  We will be able to do light trail repairs and help get you back on the road.  If it’s not repairable we’ve always got the sag vehicle as a safety net.\nCan I get a refund?  A portion of entry fee proceeds goes to Bikepacking Roots\, a nonprofit organization with a mission that supports and advances bikepacking\, the growth of a diverse bikepacking community\, and access to and the conservation of the landscapes and public lands through which we ride.  Due to the philanthropic component refunds aren’t available\, but free transfers to a friend are totally cool.\n\nTo take a deeper dive into the route’s check out the route info from Bikepacking Roots.\n \nRecommended Packing List \nPlease use your Packing Guidelines to help you prepare for a successful and fun weekend on the bike! \nQuestions?  We love email!  Send me your comments\, questions\, suggestions\, to bikes@bikesordeath.com
