SUMMARY:Snowball Adventure Race
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for the adventure of a lifetime!  The Snowball Adventure Race is the first of its kind to be hosted in Searcy County\, Arkansas.  This adventure will start with a 6-mile run to the Margaret White area on the Buffalo National River\, with only a few hills\, all gravel\, and great scenery.  You will then jump in your boat for an 8.5-mile float down the beautiful Buffalo River to the Tyler Bend launch area.  You will then pick up your bicycle at the Tyler Bend Pavilion and start the 11.5-mile gravel journey back to Snowball via the Ozark Grinder Trail.  The bike portion has a few uphills\, lots of gravel\, and amazing views of the Buffalo River. \nDon’t like to run? Paddle? Bike?  Sign up as a team! \nYou will need your own bike and your own boat\, either canoe or kayak\, if you take a canoe\, you may share with other participants.  You will be responsible for delivering your bicycle to the Tyler Bend Pavilion on Race Day.  We will assist with your boat shuttle.  PFDs are required. Drop bags will also be available to reduce your load. \nWhen you’ve completed your adventure\, join us for a free meal in Snowball\, and be sure to purchase your Rockin’ Richland tickets for the concert starting at 4 PM in Richland Valley. Tickets are required\, food is available for purchase on-site and you need to bring a lawn chair.  Kids under 12 are free. \nUnder 12? Check out our kid’s Adventure Race!  Slightly smaller and tons of fun. \nSnowball Adventure Race medals will be awarded to all participants that cross the finish line. \nParticipants must be 17 to participate. \nThe race course will be open from 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM.  After 3 PM you will be escorted back to Snowball. \nIn the event the Buffalo is not safe for floating\, the floating leg will be removed\, and the run and bike legs will be re-routed

Saturday\, June 3 will contest both the Off-Road Triathlon and Off-Road Duathlon National Championships of which both will be Team USA world qualifiers.  Both triathlon events will involve Olympic-distance events consisting of approximately 1.5K swim\, 30K bike and 10K runs.  The Off-Road & Gravel Duathlon National Championship course will be a 5K run\, 30K bike\, 10K run. \nOn Sunday\, June 4 the Ozark Valley Triathlon is hosting the 2023 Arkansas State Championships in the international\, sprint distances as well as the Arkansas High School State Championship.  These are both road triathlon races and there will be a Aquabike\, duathlon and team categories in the Ozark Valley Triathlon. \nAll of these events will be held at Lake Wedington Recreation Area.  Lake Wedington is located 13 miles west of Fayetteville and is one of the most natural settings for a triathlon in the region. DESCRIPTION:Race Details\nFinish Line / Transportation\n\nBUSSES ARE BACK!\n\nShuttles will be located adjacent to the Finish line off of Garland Ave.\nShuttles will stop 1st at Village Creek State Park and then @ EACC and return to the Finish line\n\n\nFINISH LINE BACK @ The Campbell House in Forrest City\, AR\n\nParticipant Check In at Transition Area 2 (East Arkansas Community College)\n\nAll participants are required to check in at transition area 2 (East Arkansas Community College) before proceeding onto transition area 1 (Village Creek State Park).\nYou will leave your running shoes\, run number\, running cap\, sunglasses\, etc… at your bike rack spot in T2. (if you bike with your running shoes\, take them to T1).\nBike racks will be numbered and assigned.\n\nTransition Area 1 (Village Creek State Park)\n\nTransition Area 1 is located at Village Creek State Park which is 13 miles from T2.\nPlease only use the race provided drop bag to leave any items that you want taken to T2. (if you bike with your running shoes\, take them to T1).\nBike racks will be numbered and assigned.\n\nTransition Area 1 (Village Creek State Park)\n\nTransition Area 1 is located at Village Creek State Park which is 13 miles from T2.\nPlease only use the race provided drop bag to leave any items that you want taken to T2. DESCRIPTION:The Broken Sword Triathlon in Clarksville\, AR offers a Sprint distance\, with Solo and Relay Team options in the beautiful Ozark Mountain foothills that feature a FAST and scenic course\, one-of-a-kind finisher medal\, awards\, prizes and an epic finish-line festival that both participants and spectators will enjoy!  The Broken Sword Triathlon benefits Clarksville Parks & Recreation. \nCOURSE MAP AND RACE DETAILS AVAILABLE AT: www.clarksvillear.gov/brokensword \nCOURSE INFORMATION: \nSprint Triathlon (Individual and Relay Team options) \nThe Sprint Triathlon distances will be a 500 meter Swim\, a 15-mile Bike\, and a 5K (3.1mi) Run.\n \nSwim Course:\nThe swim is an open water swim at Lake Ludwig\, located about 5 miles north of town off of Hwy. 21. The course will be a point-to-point loop starting at the beach area and ending at the boat ramp. It will be marked with buoys and other directional signage. \nTransition 1: The T1 area is in the parking lot as you come up the boat ramp. The transition exit to bike will be at the parking entrance onto the road. \nBike Course:\nThe bike course is on paved roads with beautiful scenery of the Ozark Mountains. The first half of the course is a FAST ride with rolling downhill terrain. The second section goes through downtown and the University of the Ozarks campus\, then back out into the countryside that features rolling hills and finishes with a gradual and flat ride back into downtown. \nTransition 2: The T2 area is a parking lot downtown. You will enter from the road after you go around the courthouse square and exit the parking lot to quickly hop on the trail for the run. \nRun Course:\nThe run is an out-and-back course on the Spadra Creek Nature Trail that features a flat paved trail with a pasture and wooded setting and finishes downtown with great spectator viewing and an awesome finish line party! \n  \nPARKING and TRANSPORTATION: \nParticipant parking is available at Lake Ludwig near the Swim Beach Start/T1 area on race morning.  After the race\, there will be a bus shuttle back and forth from the Finish Line/T2 area downtown to the Start/T1 area at Lake Ludwig for participant/spectator pickup/drop-off every 20-30 minutes\, starting at 9:00 AM until the last finisher at the end of the race.  Participants who do not have any family/friends/crew present at the race to take their gear and vehicle to the Finish Line area downtown after race start\, are encouraged to park at Lake Ludwig/Swim Start/T1 area on race morning and take the shuttle bus back to their vehicle after the race. \nPACKET PICKUP: \nPacket Pickup for all race events will be available on Friday\, August 11th from 9am-7pm at Clarksville City Hall (205 Walnut St\, Clarksville\, AR 72830). \nSaturday\, August 12 – Race Day Packet Pickup (Sprint Tri): \nRace Day Packet Pickup will be from 5:00-6:00am at the finish line area downtown (Levee Stage- 139 W Main St.).  All packets must be picked up 1 hour prior to race start at 7am.  There is no race day registration. \n  \n  \nPLEASE NOTE:  Race entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. \nWe race rain or shine.  In case of inclement weather\, or any other safety issue\, race management reserves the right to cancel/alter/modify the race/course for any safety concerns.  In any case there will be No Refunds of race entry fees.  Each athlete must accept any such risk of their entry fee paid.  We promise to make every effort to produce a fair\, safe and exciting event for all.  Any decision we make to cancel the race is based on the overall safety of participants. \nHistory of the Broken Sword: \nAs the legend goes\, the sword was broken in battle along a swift creek over the forbidden love between a lost explorer and the chief’s daughter of the native Quapaw tribe.  Years later\, DeSoto and his Spanish explorers were passing through this area when they came upon the same swift creek.  As they crossed the stream\, DeSoto stumbled upon the broken sword and cried “Spadra!” (espada is Spanish for sword)\, and so was named Spadra Creek\, “Stream of the Broken Sword.” \nToday\, the beautiful Spadra Creek still flows swiftly through the heart of Clarksville and features prominently along the race course.
