DESCRIPTION:GHO Endurance Challenge\, presented by Roof Raiders\nHow far will you go?\nThe GHO Endurance Challenge is a unique event designed to push participants beyond their perceived limits. Set in the scenic Craighead Forest Park\, this challenge consists of 30-minute intervals over a 6-hour period\, where participants run a 2.5-mile loop each interval. \nThis event encourages individuals to achieve distances they might have thought unattainable. Whether aiming for a single loop or striving for a 30-mile total\, participants define their own goals—making this event less about competition and more about personal endurance and achievement. \nParticipants will receive: \n\nEvent tee\nPint Glass\nFood provided throughout race day\nSwag from race packets and sponsors\nTwo after party drink tickets\nChance to win prizes throughout race day\nExclusive GHO discount\n\nFollowing the last lap of the challenge\, we invite participants to our Endurance Challenge After Party & Expo at Native Brew Works from 3-6pm. Two drink tickets will be provided to each participants. More details to come in the race day details. \nProceeds from the GHO Endurance Challenge will benefit the Jonesboro DARE progam. \nNOTE\nRegister by March 7 to ensure shirt size. Last day to register April 25. \n  \nThe GHO Endurance Challenge will be a cupless event to reduce waste. Packet pickup will be at Lake Willastien park from 5-730pm on Friday 4/19/24. \nThere will be music\, food\, and good times. \n-5k will do a clockwise loop and a half around the park.  Aid stations near mile one\, two\, and three. \n1 mile route will be one clockwise loop around the lake. \nThe event will be held at Lake Willastien. Race start and finish will be near the pavilion. \nFirst 100 finishers will be given a finisher’s medal. We will not have a T shirt this year. \nAwards for top 3 runners in male and female 5k division and the One mile Division. \nAwards for top 3 in Age Division\, Male and Female; 14 & under\, 15-19\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60+ \nThe Donut Dash will be 70ish yards. Each finisher will get a donut provided by the Maumelle Fraternal Order of Police. Winner will get the “Supreme Grand Champion” trophy. \nThe Virtual run is free of charge and open to those who want to participate but cannot make it to the event. SUMMARY:Whitney's Race 2025
DESCRIPTION:Whitney’s Race is not just Whitney’s race. It is a race against time for those yet to be afflicted with pancreatic cancer\, the most deadly cancer. It is Time To Cure® pancreatic cancer. Whitney’s Time To Cure® has passed. Whitney Marsh perished at age 41\, November 1\, 2018\, ten months after diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. Five-year survival from pancreatic cancer stands at 6-9% showing little to no improvement in survival in the past 50 years despite vast medical advances across almost all other cancers. Pancreatic cancer is currently the number two cancer killer in 2020 and researchers estimate pancreatic cancer will be the number one by 2030. Diagnosis is often late begetting the need for local medical practitioner education as well as research for improved diagnostic testing and imaging. Once a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer has been made treatment usually involves chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy followed by curative intent surgery followed by more chemotherapy. Whitney was scheduled for surgery\, but the day before surgery a CT scan showed cancer had spread. She died within 4 months of the CT scan while re-starting chemotherapy and running 8-10 miles or biking 30-40 miles per day. Even the super-healthy are no match. Better pre-operative treatment options are the future. Whitney’s Race will fund the Whitney Marsh Foundation Inc for local education and national research for Pancreatic Cancer. Funds will be apportioned locally and the remainder with well respected national cancer research institutes such as MD Anderson. Whitney’s Race is a race against time. It is Time To Cure® pancreatic cancer. \nWhitney’s Race day at the Marshals Museum will be a great day of running\, racing\, eating\, and music. Race for your best time and afterward hang out for a great time. Bring yourself and friends to race. It is a day for family and friends who run or not. If you don’t want to race\, come anyway. If you can’t come\, consider a donation anytime!  A brighter future for pancreatic cancer starts with YOU.
