SUMMARY:Endure the Dirt 5k Cancer Mud Run @ Mack's Prairie Wings
DESCRIPTION:We have so many options for you to participate this year ! \nYou can decide to run VIRTUAL or join us to ENDURE THE DIRT and get DIRTY!\nENDURE THE DIRT 5K MACKS PRAIRIE WINGS STUTTGART ARKANSAS\nBeginners to elite athletes are welcome to participate in the fourth ENDURE THE DIRT adventure race that’s mission is to raise money to motivate\, encourage\, and educate cancer patients and their caregivers. \nENDURE THE DIRT is a 5K mud run that consists of obstacles that are engineered to test your strength and tackle your fears. Located on the flat land of Stuttgart surrounding Mack’s Prairie Wings\, this course is designed for a healthy individual to understand what a cancer patient endures daily. Fellow participants will be there to give you a boost and help you conquer each task\, just as the cancer patient has their caregivers to help them tackle cancer. \nNOW WE SPRINT VIRTUAL CHALLENGE 50 MILES OR MORE   (JANUARY 1st 2022)\nMarc Stringer started his cancer regimen with 25 radiation treatments and 5 chemotherapy treatments.  This wasn’t the end.  After his esophagectomy\, he continued with chemotherapy treatments for 3 years.  We can’t even begin to count how many rounds he received some being 2 types of drugs some being 3. \nThis is what many cancer patients have to ENDURE\, rounds\, and rounds of treatment.  These treatments can bring side effects that are undesirable.  They can literally make you so sick all you want to do is stay in bed. \nThe NOW WE SPRINT VIRTUAL 50 MILE OR MORE RUN begins January 1ST\, 2022.\nWhy in January?  Because of the weather.  Cancer patients have to deal with extreme circumstances just like you may have to deal with extreme weather.  We want you to be uncomfortable\, just like cancer patients are uncomfortable every day while battling the dreaded disease. \nThe Virtual race is also a great way to get ready for Endure the Dirt. Enter your miles by Feb 28\, 2022. \nTHE RETURN of the Mini Mudder \nThis year we are bringing back the popular Mini Mudder. This is a great way for kids who may be too small for our obstacles on the main course to still get down and dirty for cancer.

Since its founding in 1938 in Kuala Lumpur\, Malaysia the Hash has spread to most of the larger cities of the world\, following the simple philosophy: “Running should be fun.” Based on the English game of “Hound and the Hare”\, the Hash involves a group of runners (the “Hounds”) who try to follow a trail marked in flour or toilet paper by the leader (the “Hare”). The ultimate goal is to find the finish (the “On-In”) where vast quantities of beer and other refreshments are consumed. The Little Rock Hash House Harriers\, founded in 1974\, is one of the oldest Hash chapters in the United States.

The ultimate goal is to find the finish (the “On-In”) where vast quantities of beer and other refreshments are consumed. The Little Rock Hash House Harriers\, founded in 1974\, is one of the oldest Hash chapters in the United States.

This will allow runners to space themselves out before hopping on the single track. The first aid station comes at the 4.8 mile mark after a 300-foot climb out of the Blue Hole crossing. The second at station comes at the 9.3-mile mark after you complete the 7 Hollows Trail. You will cross a bridge 0.5 miles from the finish line. This is the time to turn on your afterburners and have a strong finish! You will finish at the same place you started. \nThe trails are mostly single-track\, and passing runners may be hazardous. Please be courteous to one another and offer to let others by as they come up behind you. Also\, announce yourself as you approach hikers or other runners to let them know your there with a friendly “on your left” or “good morning”. We are all just out here to have fun and enjoy one another’s company! \nAid Stations\nThis is a cupless event! Remember Heifer’s mission is to end hunger while saving the earth. We plan to demonstrate this on a much smaller scale by providing you with much-needed nutrition and eliminating excess waste. Please plan to bring your own collapsible cup or water bottle to fill at the aid stations. Aid stations will be at the 4.8-mile mark\, the 9.3-mile mark\, and at the finish (~12 miles). \nFinish Line\nAs in previous editions of Hoof it for Heifer\, you will receive a finisher medal as you cross the finish line\, and we will have refreshments and food to help you recover. SUMMARY:Styx & Stones Trail Races
DESCRIPTION:Event Overview: \nJoin us this spring at Devil’s Den State Park\, an Arkansas icon nestled in the Lee Creek Valley\, for the Styx & Stones Trail Races. Both the Full and Half Marathon race distances will explore the beautiful new Monument Trail system\, Butterfield Hiking Trail\, Devil’s Den’s unique rock formations and rock gardens\, and given the time of year…you may experience running under a seasonal waterfall! The longer the distance\, the greater the rewards including creek crossings\, big climbs\, and more remote technical running that Styx & Stones is so well known for. This year\, the event will be free\, but we ask that you make a minimum donation of $20 to cover our costs and support the benefiting groups. \nEvent Background: \nFrom it’s inception with Mark Den Herder as RD\, Styx & Stones has been about celebrating the trail community and giving back; donating 100% of any race proceeds to support the West Fork XC team. We will continue to honor and expand that tradition in 2023. With the help of our sponsors and your donations\, our goal is that 100% will be donated to support the West Fork XC teams\, Friends of Devil’s Den\, and Ozark Offroad Cyclists\, who build and maintain most of our Ozark trails.

SUMMARY:Run to Rebuild Rock City
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, March 31\, a devastating tornado ripped through Arkansas and caused extensive damage to homes and businesses.  One of those businesses was the heart of the Central Arkansas running community – Rock City Running.  In just over 24 hours since the tornado destroyed the store\, hundreds of people have asked what they can do to support Rock City Running and Bill Torrey.  While we are still unable to begin the massive cleanup that will be required for the store\, we can begin to ease the financial burden on the store and its employees. \nRock City Running\nOn Saturday\, April 8th\, let’s gather downtown at what was planned to be the Capital City Classic 10km finish area and show our support of Bill Torrey and Rock City Running.  Bill\, the store\, and all of its employees need our support!  If there’s one thing our running community knows how to do\, it’s how to show up in support of our people when they need assistance!  Hugs\, high fives\, and fist bumps will be in abundance!  This is a FREE event with food and drinks to be provided\, however\, donations are strongly encouraged.  Please note that 100% of the funds donated to the event will go to benefit Rock City Running.  Donations are encouraged by both attendees of the event\, and those who just wish to be able to provide some financial support to Rock City Running in their time of need. \nGroup runs are encouraged\, but please note that all of the surrounding streets will be open to the public\, so please exercise caution on your runs when it comes to vehicular traffic.  We will have a large group running the official Capital City Classic 10km course beginning at 8 am.  That route will begin at Broadway and Markham and finish at W. Capitol and Louisiana\, just a block away from the official gathering spot.  If you don’t want to run or walk the Capital City Classic course\, you are welcome to do another route.  If you don’t want to run or walk at all\, that’s ok as well!  Just show up at Capitol and Main around 9 am to have some fun! The main thing is that we gather as a group to show our support for the people we love at Rock City Running!
