SUMMARY:Ouachita Trail 50
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 35th running of the Ouachita Trail 50 Endurance Run! \nWe are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  All donations and profits for this event will go to Pinnacle Mountain State Park. \nThe OT50 was started by a group of early Arkansas ultra runners who came together\, drew from their various ultra race experiences\, and committed to putting on a quality fifty miler in Arkansas. As the oldest enduring Arkansas Ultra Running Association event\, that intent lives on. The 50 mile and 50 km runs feature a picturesque climb over Pinnacle Mountain followed by an out-and-back traversing the rolling hills along the north shore of beautiful Lake Maumelle. Get ready for scenic\, rocky\, single-track as you tour Pinnacle Mountain State Park and the eastern part of the 222 mile Ouachita National Recreation Trail. \nProceeds benefit Pinnacle Mountain State Park \nGeneral Information: \nLocation: Maumelle Park\, Little Rock\, Arkansas\, Pavilion # 8 \nStarting Time: 6:00 AM for 50 Mile and 50 Km. Runners must check in at the pavilion a minimum of 30 minutes before the start time. \nPackets: Race packets may be picked up on Friday\, April 17th from 3pm-6pm at Fleet Feet Little Rock – 11525 Cantrell Rd #102\, Little Rock\, AR or at Pavilion #8 on race morning.  FOR SAFETY REASONS\, BIBS & TIMING CHIPS WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNTIL RACE MORNING. \nCourse Description: Starting and ending with two miles of pavement between Maumelle Park and the eastern Ouachita Trail terminus at Pinnacle Mountain State Park\, the course features a picturesque climb over and around Pinnacle Mountain followed by an out-and-back along the shore of Lake Maumelle on the Ouachita National Recreation Trail. Most of the Ouachita Trail is a scenic\, rocky\, single-track foot path. The trail is permanently marked with blue blazes. Turns are marked with two blue blazes. Additional markers (blue and white striped ribbon) will also mark the course. The Pinnacle Mountain trails and loop are utilized on the “out” portion only. 50K participants will be diverted off of the OT around the 16 mile point and will follow a different approach to the Northshore Aid Station. The course involves several highway crossings\, and there will likely be no traffic control. Please be responsible and be careful! NOTE: If conditions are wet\, the course may be rerouted to avoid the top of Pinnacle Mountain. This is due to safety concerns and is mandated by the state park. \nAid: Eleven staffed aid stations for 50-mile; seven for 50Km. (See mileage/aid station chart) Carrying at least one fluid bottle is HIGHLY advised. Aid station fare includes water\, Gatorade\, soft drinks\, chips\, cookies\, crackers\, candy\, peanuts\, various sandwiches\, bananas\, oranges and whatever creative items our amazing aid captains come up with.  They put out a very nice spread! No Advil\, Aspirin\, or other pain relievers will be supplied at aid stations.\n \nCrew access: Crews can meet runners at East Pinnacle Parking Lot\, West Summit Trailhead\, Northshore\, and the Hwy 10 turnaround only. \nDrop Bags: Drop bags will be taken to the Northshore and Hwy 10 (50 mile only) aid stations. Please label drop bags with these names\, your name and bib number to avoid confusion. Bags can be dropped off during race check-in. We will try to return bags to the finish area as soon as possible. Please pick up drop bags after the race or make arrangements for them\, as they will not be mailed back to you. \nCut-off Times: There is a 13-hour time limit for the 50 Miler\, and 7:00 PM cut-off for both races. Runners registered in the 50 Mile have the option to change to the 50Km during the race. To continue in the 50 Mile race\, a runner must exit the Northshore aid station by 10:15 AM (out-bound) and 3:20 PM (returning)\, the Hwy 10 Turnaround aid station by 12:50 PM\, and East Pinnacle aid station (returning) by 6:05 PM. To continue in the 50k race\, a runner must exit North Shore by 1:20 PM and East Pinnacle by 6:05 PM (returning). These cut off times will be strictly enforced. \nRace Shirts: You will have the option of choosing a Women’s or Men’s fit race shirt.  However\, you must register by March 11th to guarantee your shirt size.  If you register after that date you may be given a shirt from the prior year. \nAwards: Finishing awards will be awarded to each 50K and 50 Mile finisher. Overall awards to first male and female\, open and masters finisher in the 50K and 50 Mile. Awards will be presented as you finish. \nFinish Line Food: The race will be catered again this year.  You will receive one meal ticket at the finish line.  Options TBA soon.  Bring cash if you think you will want more than one meal for you or your family. \nRace Parking: Volunteers will be directing arriving runners on race morning in order to park as many vehicles as possible at pavilion number 8. Your cooperation will help us achieve this. If overflow parking is required\, please use the parking lot for the pavilions just inside Maumelle Park (see map in the runner packet). It is critical that you DO NOT park along Pinnacle Valley Road. \nRace Director: Stacey Shaver\, email (preferred) OT50@Runarkansas.com

SUMMARY:OUTLAST
DESCRIPTION:OUTLAST is a 6-hour trail endurance challenge where runners complete a 5K every hour\, on the hour. Each lap must be finished within the hour to stay in the event. If you finish early\, you rest until the next round. Miss a lap\, and you’re out. \nComplete all six rounds\, and you OUTLAST. \nThis isn’t just about speed — it’s about pacing\, discipline\, and mental grit. Whether you’re trying to survive all six or win your division\, the challenge is the same: show up each hour\, push your limits\, and stay in it. \nEach course is trail-based\, with natural terrain\, elevation\, and unpredictable conditions. You’ll have time between rounds to recover\, refuel\, and refocus — but not much. \n  \nWhat You Earn: \n4 laps = Bronze “Grit Earned” leather patch\n5 laps = Silver “Survivor” leather patch\n6 laps = Premium “OUTLAST” wooden medal\n\nAll participants receive an OUTLAST Tee & Sticker. \nTop male and female with the fastest combined 5K times at each event win the 1st Place OUTLAST award. \nFinishers are ranked on the national leaderboard—and the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events will be crowned National Champion and take home $1\,000. \nThe 1st Place Male and Female 6-hour champions from each city will earn a spot in the Outlast Championship\, where they’ll compete against the best of the best at the end of the Tour\, and the 1st place male and female winners take home $1000 each. (This is separate from the national leaderboard prize money.) \nBy the end of the tour\, the top 100 best times nationally will be invited to also compete in the Outlast Championship. \n  \nFrequently Asked Questions: \nDo I have to run all 6 laps?\nNope. Run as many as you can. If you complete 4 or 5\, you’ll still earn a patch. Only those who finish all 6 get the OUTLAST medal and leaderboard ranking. \nWhat happens if I don’t finish a lap in time?\nYou’re out. The next lap starts at the top of the next hour\, and only those who completed the last lap on time can continue. \nHow is the race timed?\nEach 5K is timed individually. If you complete all 6\, your combined time counts toward the local win and national leaderboard. \nAre these trail races or road?\nEvery OUTLAST race is on trail terrain — dirt\, rocks\, roots\, and elevation. Sometimes some pavement and gravel. \nCan I walk?\nYes\, as long as you finish the 5K within the hour. But some courses are rugged\, and time can sneak up on you. \nAre there aid stations?\nYes. There will be water\, basic hydration\, and snacks at the basecamp/loop start. This is a cupless event — bring your own bottle or hydration system. \nWhat should I bring?\nTrail shoes\, hydration system\, layers (weather dependent)\, fuel between laps\, and grit. \nCan I setup a tent?\nAbsolutely\, bring your own aid station/tent setup. \nIs OUTLAST for beginners?\nYes — if you’re mentally tough. You don’t need to be fast\, just consistent and ready to suffer a little. \nHow do I win?\nIf you finish all 6 laps and have the fastest combined time\, you win your division (male/female). Winners are also added to the national leaderboard for a shot at the $1\,000 national prize & title.

SUMMARY:Delta Grind
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the unique culture and beauty of the Arkansas Delta\, runners can expect a challenging and scenic course that showcases the beauty of the Delta region. Live music will be playing throughout the day\, and delicious food from local vendors served after the run.  Cupless event. BYO bottle/hydration pack recommended. Water jugs on course. \nRoutes –> ridewithgps.com \nLocation –> Kelly Courtyard\, 415 Cherry St\, Helena\, AR 72342 \n  \n“The first bit of the course runs through the town\, Past the Delta Cultural Center\, where the King Biscuit Blues radio show continues its daily broadcast\, just as it has for over 80 years. Up the brick path of the levee walk overlooking the port of Helena. Looking down on the ruins of old warehouses and wholesalers as the bricks turn to gravel and you head out of town. \n  \nLeaving the levee and entering the national forest\, the road moves further from the river. On the west side\, Crowley’s Ridge rises steeply. As geologic features go\, this one is pretty new. It was formed about 20\,000 years ago as windborne glacial loess accumulated here. Helena is the southern end of the ridge\, which extends about 200 miles north to Missouri and rises 250 feet above the otherwise pancake-flat region. \n  \nThe riverside to the east is a dense tangle of thick\, flat woods\, interrupted occasionally by cypress swamp. At first glance\, much of the scenery in the forest was not unlike the typical green tunnel you find elsewhere in the region\, but as the eyes began to soften and adjust\, differences appeared. \n  \nThe trees that make the consistent canopy are considerably taller than most you find in the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. The timber industry was a main source of wealth in the Delta in the 19th century\, but most forests were cleared and turned to cotton\, rice\, and\, later\, soy fields. Most of the existing Arkansas mills are in the hilly parts of the state\, and those forests are more likely to be interspersed with recent cuts. \n  \nThe road itself was softer and sandier than non-Delta gravel roads\, making for an ideal running surface. \n  \nThere were more cool drinks waiting back at the finish\, with mocktails and cold local Arkansas and Mississippi beer set up in a brick-lined picnic area that had once been a building. The live blues music and barbeque kept 100% of the participants there for hours after the race ended. The liveliness of the scene on that block that afternoon gave hints of what had been and could be again in Helena. \n  \nAchieving that vibrancy and highlighting the culture and natural beauty of the town and surrounding areas is very much the intention of the organizers of the Delta Dash run and accompanying Delta Grind ride. The events are organized primarily by the nonprofit StudioDrift\, which aims to revitalize the Delta through placemaking and adventure tourism.”  Read the rest of Brian Hurley’s recap here: www.irunfar.com/recovery-run-running-as-revitalization-in-the-arkansas-delta \n  \n“The perfect mash-up of fun and folly\, all to support the creation of the Crowley’s Ridge Gravel Trail\,” said Ammen Jordan\, Director of studioDRIFT. “Helena is the perfect basecamp for a weekend of adventure.” \nCupless event. BYO bottle/hydration pack recommended. Water jugs on course. \n  \n27K tickets include lunch and music. Delta Grind is a family-friendly event that is open to the public.

SUMMARY:Catsmacker Trail run
DESCRIPTION:Participation is limited\, and subject to filling up. If you register and later change your mind\, please contact Katie Helms. so that we can free up your spot for somebody else. Also note that any race donations are non-refundable. In other words\, if you sign up and donate\, you might as well show up! \nAURA “Fun Run” (no UTS points)\nDistance: 20-ish miles for the Catsmacker\, 12-ish miles for the Kitty Run option\nStart/Finish Area: the start is at the Lake Sylvia Day Use area (where you would go if you went swimming in the lake). NOT at Camp Ouachita (where the Full Moon and Traveller start).\nStart is at 7:00am\, sign-in will be available (hopefully) by 6:00am.\nCost: This is a donation-based run. That said\, we need to cover costs for Forest Service permitting\, aid station supplies\, finish line cookout\, and other race equipment/transportation/logistics. Please make sure that we can cover those costs and continue offering low-cost events. You can make an online payment here\, or a cash/check donation on race day. Donations are non-refundable\, and any proceeds will be donated to AURA. (A suggested donation to cover costs is $20. Thank you!) \nDriving & Parking Directions: You should be able to find Williams Junction\, AR on most maps; it is approximately 30 miles west of Little Rock on Hwy 10\, or 20 miles south of Morrilton on Hwy 9.  To get to the race site from Williams Junction\, go north on Hwy 10/9 for 1.5 miles\, then take Hwy 324 west and follow for three and a half miles. The Lake Sylvia day use area will be on your left about 1/2mile after Camp Ouachita. If the road turns to gravel you went half mile too far. \nGoogle driving directions to start \nParking is limited in the Lake Sylvia Day Use Area. Once this area is full\, parking will overflow along Highway 324. Please carpool if possible! Parking along Hwy 324 is limited to the west side only (on the right as you are driving in from Hwy 9/10). If you don’t see any cars parked on the east side of Hwy 324\, there is a reason! There will be signs and volunteers to assist you with where you can and can’t park. Make sure your car is all the way to the right of the white line (completely out of the traffic lane) when you park. \nCourse Description: \n\nThe course will utilize Forest Service roads and a portion of the Ouachita Trail. There will be a combination of pavement (just a little!)\, gravel\, and single/double track trail (it’s poison ivy season!).\nCourse marking will consist of signs\, colored ribbon flagging\, and flour arrows drawn on the ground. In general\, course marking is focused on marking turns and intersections. Intermediate “confidence” markings in the absence of turns or intersections will be relatively rare. We recommend that participants print off maps if they are unsure of the course or unfamiliar with the area.\nTurn-by-turn directions:\n\nFSR 152 (from start)\, turning right on FSR 132\nFSR 132 staying straight on FSR 94 (follow sign to Flatside Pinnacle)\nFSR 94 turning right onto Ouachita Trail\nOuachita Trail turn right onto FSR 805\nFSR 805 turning right onto Hwy 324\nHwy 324 to finish at Lake Sylvia day use area\nThe Kitty Run course is the same as above with one deviation that is seen on the map. Approximately 3.5 miles into the course\, the Kitty Run incorporates the Ouachita Trail for 1.5 miles and then turns back right onto FSR 805.\n\n\nCourse Map Google Course Map\n\nArkansas Ultra Trail Series: This is a no-UTS-points fun run that is a season-closer and celebration of the end of an amazing year of Arkansas ultrarunning. The 2022-2023 UTS awards ceremony will be held after the run\, with a cookout-style lunch. Celebrate with us! \nRunner Safety and Other Details: \n\nThere will be a waiver to sign on the morning of the run.\nThere will be at least 3 aid stations for the Catsmacker\, and 2 aid stations for the Kitty Run.\nPlease carry a water bottle and any snacks you want. Food choices at the aid stations will be basic.\nThe park allows dogs on a leash. Please don’t assume that your dog is the exception that doesn’t need a leash.\nIt’s always a good idea to carry a cell phone. The service is spotty\, but the higher hills often have signal available. If you are unfamiliar with the area\, run with a buddy and study the course map.\nCut-off is 6 hours. For the full Catsmacker\, that is a 16:30ish pace. There will be one early start option at 6:00am if (and only if) you anticipate needing more time to finish. It is not a “for your convenience if you don’t feel like waiting for the 7:00am start” option. If you miss the 6:00am early start\, then you will have to catch the 7:00am start.\nFor more information\, contact the race director Katie Helms.

SUMMARY:The Big (Trail) Run Presented by Brooks
DESCRIPTION:On June 3rd\, all Fleet Feet locations will celebrate 50 years of running with The Big Run\, a nationwide event coinciding with Global Running Day. We will be running on one of the “funnest” surfaces to run on:  TRAIL! Now is the time to venture out and try something new for you. We will be holding our run at War Memorial Golf Course Park\, a relatively grassy course with almost no rocks and roots. That makes this race the perfect adventure for your first trail run. Think Cross Country. Bring your kids to run this fun run! They may just all in love with XC\, if they haven’t already. \nIf you ask most people in Little Rock where they run\, a large majority will say\, “The River Trail.” This trail that we love so much is one of the many parks and trails maintained by Little Rock Parks and Rec. 100% of the proceeds of The Big (Trail) Run go to Little Rock Parks and Rec. We want this fun run to be one of the biggest 5Kish trail runs around. Come show your appreciation and run\, walk or a little of both on the grass and asphalt of War Memorial Golf Course. \nThe Big Run is open to runners/walkers of all levels and abilities.

SUMMARY:Mitchell's Mountain 5K Trail Race and 1K Dash for Hope
DESCRIPTION:The Reason: This isn’t just another 5k benefit for charity. This race is creating a trail where one didn’t exist. When you run this race\, you become part of a community that believes everyone deserves the opportunity to race and to feel like they have purpose and dignity. \nThe Order of Events: The 1k will start first.  We will celebrate the hard work and bravery of the families and those affected by disability for signing up\, showing up\, and completing the race to the best of their ability.  The 5k will begin shortly after the conclusion of the 1k. \nThe Org: Mitchell’s Mountain serves and supports families affected by autism and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. We achieve this through essential respite care\, an upcoming long-term residential community designed for those with severe autism\, and local family events like this race.
