SUMMARY:Dogtown Beer Down - Beer Mile
DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, October 12th\, for the Fourth Annual Argenta Beer Mile! \nWhat is the Beer Mile? \n***Drink 4 beers and run 4 laps on the designated course in style as quickly as you can.***\nEach competitor drinks four cans of beer and runs four laps around a 1/4 mile course (start with chugging a beer\, then run a lap\, then beer\, then lap\, then beer\, then lap\, then beer\, then lap – finish).\nBeer must be consumed before the lap begins within the transition area. The transition area is the zone at the start/finish line for a mile race.\nThe race begins with competitors lined up on the mile starting line\, drinking the first beer in the transition zone described in the step above. This ensures competitors cover a complete mile. Competitors can walk/move in the transition area while drinking\, but all beer must be consumed in the transition area before setting off to run a lap.\nCompetitors must drink canned beer that is no less than 355mL (12 Oz) in volume\, which is the standard can/bottle size in the USA and some other countries. The Root Beer Mile substitutes canned root beer. \nBe sure to be ready to run at the time you have selected!  Packet Pickup starts at 11:00 AM.  Your heat will start at the time you selected. \nThe race start is in the Argenta Plaza on Main Street\, downtown North Little Rock.\nThere will be multiple heats\, and prizes awarded for top male and female competitors\, as well as for most dramatic finish!\nProceeds will benefit the Recycle Bikes for Kids. Learn more about the Recycle Bikes For Kids at https://www.recyclebikesforkids.org\nMore details coming soon! \nPre-race Packet Pickup at Flyway 10/11 starting at 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM. \nRace Day Packet Pickup will start at 11:00 AM at the Plaza on Main Street in Argenta.

She was extremely active in all functions at Jasper High School\, Newton County\, Arkansas\, an outstanding student deeply loved and respected by students\, faculty\, and anyone who had been fortunate enough to know her. \nHer family and friends felt the best way to honor and remember Paige would be the creation of a fund to help the type of student and individual that she so personified. \nEach year\, three students from the area will be given a scholarship in whatever amount the fund can afford to provide. This fund is a nonprofit organization and all members volunteer their services with compensation.

SUMMARY:HOWL-O-WEEN Hairy and Scary Fest Zombie Run 2.5k / 5k
DESCRIPTION:Prepare yourself to run (or walk) for your lives! This will be a charity 5k with all proceeds going to Lucky Dawg Rescue Inc. This will be taking place on Sunday\, October 20th. There will be vendors there starting at 1pm\, a dog and dog/human duo costume contest at 2pm\, and the run will start at 3pm. There will even be a few zombies! Zombies\, you say? Oh yes\, ZOMBIES! Unfortunately\, for the safety of racers and dogs\, we will not allow dogs in the race event. If you decide to bring your animal\, they must be leashed at all times! \nBASIC SURVIVAL\nBefore the race\, you will be given flags just like the overly intimidating game of flag football. These flags represent your health. \nThe zombies want to take your flags and maybe eat your brains.\nIf you lose all your health flags\, you will be considered infected!\nIf you finish with a flag\, you will be awarded with the survivor prize.\n*NOTE* If you form and run with a TEAM\, and if any member of that team survives with a flag\, the ENTIRE team receives the “Survivor” medal!  The perfect reason to recruit your friends to be Zombie-fodder! Teams must consist of no more/less than 4 members. \nWHAT YOU’RE UP AGAINST\nThere will be zombies. Their job is to chase you and eat you — but mainly go after your health\, in the form of your flag belt. Avoid the zombies to keep your health flags.\nUse speed\, strategy and your intact brains to make it to the FINISH LINE “alive” with at least ONE FLAG INTACT. If you finish with zero health flags\, this means the zombies have successfully transformed you into the “undead”. There will be a start line\, and a finish line\, and the opportunity to avoid Zombies in between.

SUMMARY:Hare Mountain 100
DESCRIPTION:100 mile Friday November 1st-7am-Haw Creek Falls\n50 mile Saturday November 2nd-6am-Indian Creek TH\nThis run is extremely difficult.\nThe Ozark Highland’s Trail is a national scenic trail marked with white blazes for the main trail and blue blazes for spurs. Do not count on flagging. It will be minimal if any. We are going to add more blazes and reflective tape to those blazes. Please do not register for this race if you are not comfortable being self sufficient and comfortable with navigation. Sometimes trees with markers fall and sometimes the fog is so thick you cannot see your hands. Gaia is highly recommended.\nNo one finished the full\, original course the inaugural running October 2023. \nThe Hare Mountain 100 is a point-to-point 100 mile run\, that incorporates 2 scenic loops\, along the Ozark Highlands Trail in the Northwestern part of Arkansas across the Boston Mountain segment. Hare Mountain is the highest point on the OHT at nearly 2400 feet. This segment covers 164 miles of rocky\, steep and rugged forest with several creek crossings\, incredible fall colors\, waterfalls\, bluffs and beautiful sandstone outcrops. I’m utilizing 100 miles of the most difficult sections of this segment. I grew up on this trail and it means a lot to me to bring such a rugged and beautiful experience to runners. \nIn 2023 I offered a 100k and 50 mile at the same time as the 100. The 100k will be at a different time of year now. The 50 mile will be the second\, and more difficult\, half of the 100 course. It will start at Indian Creek TH at 6am on Saturday. The cutoff is 16 hours. \nTo run the 100\, it is highly recommended that you have completed at least a 50 mile race on trail with at least 5000 feet of vertical gain. Measurements taken by GPS and topographic mapping have put elevation gain between 20\,000-22\,000 feet. Runners will have 38 hours to complete the 100 mile run.\nRunners must sign a waiver when registering. There is also an option to donate $100 to the Ozark Highlands Trail Association.\nQuestions contact: haremountain100@gmail.com\nWebsite: https://www.haremountain100.com/\nPart of the proceeds of the race will go to local animal shelters.\nFollow:\nhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/216147591049546/\nhttps://www.instagram.com/haremountain100/

SUMMARY:Whitney's Race 2024
DESCRIPTION:Whitney’s Race is not just Whitney’s race. It is a race against time for those yet to be afflicted with pancreatic cancer\, the most deadly cancer. It is Time To Cure® pancreatic cancer. Whitney’s Time To Cure® has passed. Whitney Marsh perished at age 41\, November 1\, 2018\, ten months after diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. Five-year survival from pancreatic cancer stands at 6-9% showing little to no improvement in survival in the past 50 years despite vast medical advances across almost all other cancers. Pancreatic cancer is currently the number two cancer killer in 2020 and researchers estimate pancreatic cancer will be the number one by 2030. Diagnosis is often late begetting the need for local medical practitioner education as well as research for improved diagnostic testing and imaging. Once a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer has been made treatment usually involves chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy followed by curative intent surgery followed by more chemotherapy. Whitney was scheduled for surgery\, but the day before surgery a CT scan showed cancer had spread. She died within 4 months of the CT scan while re-starting chemotherapy and running 8-10 miles or biking 30-40 miles per day. Even the super-healthy are no match. Better pre-operative treatment options are the future. Whitney’s Race will fund the Whitney Marsh Foundation Inc for local education and national research for Pancreatic Cancer. Funds will be apportioned locally and the remainder with well respected national cancer research institutes such as MD Anderson. Whitney’s Race is a race against time. It is Time To Cure® pancreatic cancer. \nWhitney’s Race day at the Marshals Museum will be a great day of running\, racing\, eating\, and music. Race for your best time and afterward hang out for a great time. Bring yourself and friends to race. It is a day for family and friends who run or not. If you don’t want to race\, come anyway. If you can’t come\, consider a donation anytime!  A brighter future for pancreatic cancer starts with YOU.
