SUMMARY:Arkansas NICA Race 2 - Mid Season Classic
DESCRIPTION:One of the great things about a NICA League\, which separates us from other youth cycling development programs\, is we produce our own youth-specific events. This means we pick out race venues and work directly with landowners and managers to produce the highest quality youth development racecourses and events. The student-athletes get a stage of their own\, away from adult competitions\, and we strive for safety and fun above all other factors. \nThe Arkansas League will produce a total of 7 events in 2024.  On our Time Trial weekend we will have a special Race Clinic Event on that Saturday aimed at getting more girls on bikes in addition to allowing newer riders have a practice race\, attend a race clinic and do their first mass start.  Followed by a Prelude Time Trial and 4 races in the fall.  New for 2024 we have 2 Regions.  Plains (Central\, South and NE Arkansas) and Plateaus (NWA and OK generally).    The competitive racing will consist of 2 regional events\, and 2 All league Events.   We will crown regional champions at the end of Race 3 based of total points and also have a true “winner take all” State Championship Event at Race 4.  Athletes must have attended atleast 2 prior races to be eligible to win the State Championship.

SUMMARY:Big Dam Bridge 100
DESCRIPTION:The Big Dam Bridge 100 began with a group of enthusiastic cyclists from central Arkansas who formed the Big Dam Bridge Foundation (BDBF). The BDBF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to promote the use\, support and preservation of the Big Dam Bridge for the advancement of health\, fitness\, cultural and recreational activities in Arkansas. \nThe Big Dam Bridge connects approximately 20 miles of scenic riverside trails in the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock and assists in the connection of 70\,000 acres of city\, county\, state and federal park land. More importantly\, the Big Dam Bridge connects people by fostering a sense of community and provides a venue for community members to engage in community events. The Foundation has raised money for several projects through the Big Dam Bridge 100\, including the Pitstop Pavilion\, recently opened on the Little Rock side of the bridge. \nArkansas’ premier cycling event started in 2006 with the opening of the Big Dam Bridge. The Big Dam Bridge 100 used Burns Park as the Finish line area\, but then moved to historic Argenta in North Little Rock to showcase more of central Arkansas. Slowly it has built into an international event\, featuring timed rides\, onsite photography\, a 15-mile family ride\, opportunities for fundraising\, out-of-state clubs participating with the support of local\, regional and national sponsors. \nThe Big Dam Bridge 100 is a place-builder. This ride promotes one of Arkansas most popular tourist attractions\, has influenced the development of trails and other bridges and helps give central Arkansas a reputation as a cycling-friendly community. In addition\, thousands of people visit the Little Rock / North Little Rock areas and enjoy our special brand of southern hospitality while experiencing 100+ miles of beautiful scenery and friendly people.

SUMMARY:OZ Mile Swim
DESCRIPTION:OZ Mile Swim is for ALL swimmers! Elite\, experienced\, novice\, beginner – ALL! \nThe OZ Mile Swim is an open water race that offers participants and spectators a full weekend in Northwest Arkansas with festivities centered around swimming.  This will be a great weekend in the heart of the Ozark on beautiful Beaver Lake with fun for the entire family! \nBonnie Adams\, founder of SWIM OZ\, created this race because she wanted to showcase the natural beauty of the Ozark region and offer an opportunity for her clients and team to be able to compete locally. There are so many amazing things that this area offers athletes\, and it is time to put us on the map for swimming events as well. There is a very eclectic swimming population here in Northwest Arkansas. A lot of former Division 1 swimmers\, Ironman triathletes\, recreational swimmers\, high school state champions\, para-athletes\, and special Olympic athletes all reside here. The 1-mile swim offers ALL of them the opportunity to participate. Adams had this to say regarding the event\, “The diversity of our participants is awesome – so glad we have a grass roots start to an inclusive event. When we sat down to create this event\, we wanted something for everyone. We also wanted this to be a race that the spectators would want to attend.”   The course is a triangle shape with complete viewing for the spectators to see their swimmer the entire race. \nWe want to build community around swimming.

SUMMARY:Arkansas NICA Race 3 - Plains Region

SUMMARY:Steady Steve 5K
DESCRIPTION:The Steady Steve 5K on Batesville’s Westside honors the legacy of Stephen Raviscioni\, who worked tirelessly with his loving wife\, Autumn\, to establish Our Father’s Table food ministry. Stephen had also turned to running for fitness and health in a big way before COVID-19 came along. He was stricken with a severe case and we lost his graceful service to the hungry and poor. \nAutumn continues the mission at Our Father’s Table\, and the Steady Steve 5K will help meet the ongoing needs of so many among us. The nonprofit ministry has distributed sack lunches as a street outreach on Saturdays since 2012 and now serves hot meals two nights a week. Our Father’s Table seeks to build nurturing relationships with the hungry and to point them to additional resources in our community for any other needs they may have. \nThe race will begin and end at the Our Father’s Table facility and all proceeds will go to the ministry. (Supporters may fetch a printable flier\, sponsorship form\, and paper entry form attached below.) Entrants may make a donation above and beyond the race fee. The online entry fee is $25\, plus a small transaction fee\, until 6 p.m. Oct. 6. Race-day registration will be $30 from 6:45-7:45 a.m. \nThe race route (see map below) incorporates elements of the former Sprint for Seniors and West Elementary Watergun Run through Westside. Entrants  registered by Sept. 22 will receive a T-shirt in requested size in their packets\, with later entries receiving shirts first-come first-served at packet pickup while supplies last. Awards will be for Top 3 male\, Top 3 female in Runner and Walker divisions\, and finishers award for all.
