This includes a 3-year Wilderness First Aid certification upon completion of course.\nCPR only – Aug 26 from 6:30-9:30pm. This includes a 2-year CPR certification upon completion of course.\n\nThe following meals and lodging are included in ticket price: \nLodging (or camping) on the night of Saturday\, August 26 \nAug 26: lunch and dinner \nAug 27: breakfast and lunch \n  \nOptional add-on meals and lodging: \nLodging (or camping) on the night of Friday\, August 25 \nAug 26: breakfast \n  \nWilderness First Aid (16hr) \nThis two day course immerses participants in basic wilderness medicine procedures\, preparing individuals to take immediate action when an outdoor activity doesn’t go as planned and 911 Responders are hours away. Time is split between interactive classroom sessions and hands-on field scenarios to prepare participants and help them quickly develop basic backcountry medical care skills. The course focus is on patient assessment\, stabilization and emergency treatment of issues such as hypothermia and snakebites\, as well as understanding of when and how to attempt evacuation. Participants will emerge capable of calmly responding to a wide variety of emergency situations. Minimum age requirement for this course is 14. \n  \nParticipants will need to be prepared to be outside approximately half of the training hours\, regardless of weather conditions unless hazardous (storms or extreme cold). Participants should bring whatever items they commonly carry on their persons in the performance of their duties\, as improvisational concepts are an important aspect of this course\, and participants should also be equipped with a headlamp for the evening exercise. All participants will need to be dressed in clothing that can be stained and/or damaged\, as the program is heavily hands on\, and moulage will be used to promote training authenticity. \n  \nThis OSRE/Sierra Rescue International certification course presents skills and techniques according to practice guidelines established by the Wilderness Medical Society as outlined in the Wilderness Medical Society Practice Guidelines. \n  \nAll program supplies and textbooks (which become property of the participants) are provided by Ozark Safety and Rescue Educators (OSRE) as part of the program cost. Successful completion of the entire program will result in a two year nationally recognized certification. \n  \nStudents completing the course will receive a nationally recognized 16hr SRI Wilderness First Aid Card (good for three years!) \n  \nCPR \nComplete your training with our “American CPR” nationally certified Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED course. \nThis program will give you a solid set of skills to perform CPR\, use an AED\, and manage choking in Adults\, Children and Infants. \n  \nWe bring real life experience to the program and a learning format that helps make sure that you learn effectively and in a way that you will be able to remember! \n  \nThis course results in a 2-year nationally recognized layperson provider certification. \n  \nAbout the Instructor: \nThis course will be taught by Tom Burroughs\, NREMT/WEMT. Since 1990\, Tom has been focused on providing care in emergency situations and in remote environments. Currently the team leader for Washington CO. AR’s Wilderness Search and Rescue team\, Tom employs experiential learning methods that make his courses fun and engaging.
