SUMMARY:DARE 2 Tread the Trails
DESCRIPTION:Jonesboro Police DARE will be hosting the DARE 2 Tread event for the 6th year! We had a great turnout in 2022! We are excited about 2023! \nOn October 14th\, we want you to come out and enjoy our trails at Craighead forest. We will start by access 1 at the boat ramp area. The parking lot is small by Pavilion 1. You can park at the first entrance and walk across the dam. Ther is also parking at access 2. This year we will have a 5k trail run (with approx. 1 mile of chat by the lake)\, 10k trail run (with approx. 1.2 miles of chat around the lake)\, and a Half marathon trail run ( this will be 2 loops of the 10k). We will start the half marathon at 8am\, the 10k will start at 8:30am\, and the 5k will start at 9am. We plan on doing the 5k/10k awards around 10:30 ish. We will have a 4 hour time limit on the half marathon. We are planning on doing the half marathon awards when the runners finish. Timing will be done by Stearns timing again this year. Please stay for the awards because we will have prizes that we will give away by drawing bib numbers!!!! \nOn October 15th we will have our fun mountain bike poker ride. It will start at access 1 this year. We are doing it a little different this year. We also have a couple local riders that will take you on whatever you want to ride! We want you to have a great time on the new trails! We moved it to Sunday in hopes that some of the runners would be able to participate it the ride. If you have never done a mountain bike poker ride\, be prepared to have fun and meet some new people. You will draw a poker card before you start. There will be three more stops where you draw cards. You will draw your final card and turn it in at the finish. You may purchase more cards before the event starts! If you have multiple hands\, you will hand one to the person at the stop. You will draw for that hand. You will then hand them your next hand and draw for it. You do not get to pick which card goes with what hand. (gotta keep it fair for those with only one hand) When everyone finishes\, the person with the highest hand gets to pick from the prizes first. The person with the lowest hand picks next. We will give the remaining participants a ticket and draw until prizes are gone. The mountain bike ride is for fun! It is not a race. \nRegister by September 29th to be guaranteed a shirt. \nAll of the money raised goes to support our local DARE program. We purchase shirts\, books\, and supplies for all of our 5th grade students.
