DESCRIPTION:IT’S BACK\, BETTER AND IMPROVED! The annual “WANGO TANGO” endurance race\, a loud and rowdy 4-hour ENDURANCE mountain bike race/party on the City Lake trail system in Siloam Springs Arkansas will include for the first time a 5K and 10K trail run! \nYou read that right\, this year the Wango Tango will include a 5k and 10k trail run on the hidden gem of the Siloam City Lake trails set to take place before the start of the 4-hour mountain bike endurance race. All of this awesomeness is set to take place this year on Saturday\, November 16th\, 2024! \nIn a partnership with Siloam Springs Parks & Recreation\, the Borderline Ozark Off-Road Cyclists are excited to bring mountain bike racing and trail running to western Benton County! \nAlong the same vein as the popular ‘Beast of Burden’ event\, the Wango Tango features 4-hours of solo and team relay mountain bike racing as well as trail running on beginner and intermediate trails! \nThe trail run will start at 11 AM and all runners will be off of the trails before the start of the mountain bike endurance race. To add to the mountain bike challenge\, a 3 pm start for the endurance race means the sun will set 2 hours into the mountain bike race and competitors will be racing in the dark to finish. \nThis will be an electronically timed race. \nMountain Bike Award Categories include Solo Male\, Solo Male Junior\, Solo Female\, Solo Female Junior\, 4 Man Relay\, 4 Woman Relay\, 4 Person Co-Ed (any combination of male and female)\, 2 Person Male\, 2 Person Female\, 2 Person Co-Ed (1 male and 1 female)\, and 4 Person Junior co-ed (Can be any combination of male or female Junior racers aged 13-18)\, E-Bike solo male\, and E-bike solo female. Only class 1 E-bikes will be allowed to compete. \nTrail Run Award Categories will include top male and female overall finishers\, as well as awards for top age category finishers. \nCome smash it out solo or with your best compadres as the Wango Tango caters to all skill levels. The race is spectator friendly and friendly heckling is encouraged. \nPre-registration for the mountain bike endurance race is ONLY $40/racer (Juniors are just $30) and for the trail run ONLY $25. There WILL NOT BE on-site registration on the day of the event this year. \nThere will be food from the grill\, snacks\, and water during the event for all participants. Trophies will be awarded 3 deep in every category. \nAll competitors must be 13 or older by December 31st\, 2024. \nHelmets are required for the mountain bike race\, and all mountain bike competitors must have at least one light source to compete (Helmet AND bar lights are recommended). \nThe Wango Tango is unsanctioned\, and all participants must sign a waiver. Under 18 must have a parent or guardians’ signature to compete. \nProceeds from the event benefit the Borderline chapter of the Ozark Off-Road Cyclists and volunteer trail advocacy in Western Benton and Washington Counties. \nCity Lake is located just north of Siloam Springs\, Arkansas. From downtown head north on Mt. Olive Street and then turn right onto Dawn Hill Road. Follow signs for parking. Only volunteers will be allowed to park at the trailhead/pit area. All participants must park in designated parking areas and either ride to the trailhead/pit area or drop off their equipment before parking. Bike racks will be provided in the pit. \nLook for additional details as we get closer to race day and we’ll see you at the Borderline!

SUMMARY:Central Arkansas Cyclocross - Race 1
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Central Arkansas Cyclocross Series “CACS” \nThe atmosphere of cyclocross racing is what draws many racers and fans to the sport. Cyclocross is very spectator friendly with the courses set up in local parks and the short races happening at high speeds. Although the racing can be highly competitive on the course\, there’s a festival environment outside the course tape. \nWhat is Cyclocross?\nCyclocross combines elements of road cycling\, mountain biking\, and steeplechase. Races are relatively short (20-60 minutes)\, held on 2.5- to 3.5-kilometer closed circuit courses in parks and open spaces. Riders race over varying amounts of pavement\, grass\, dirt\, and sand. \nCan I use a mountain bike or gravel bike for cyclocross? \nAlmost any standard bicycle with two wheels can be used for cyclocross at local cyclocross races. Bicycles with drop handlebars are standard equipment for cyclocross\, but flat bars (with no forward or upward extensions) are allowed. Gravel bikes can be used for cyclocross races\,  Drop handlebars are required at USA Cycling Cyclocross National. \nTire Width Rules for Cyclocross\nThe condensed version is that any tire width is allowed for local USA Cycling-permitted cyclocross races. \nPoints for the Series\nPoints for each race will be awarded based on how many participants come and the race. The winner of the series will be awarded

SUMMARY:High In The Ozarks
DESCRIPTION:What It Is…\n\n\n\n\nThis is an extreme gravel event that will test your mind\, body\, and soul. You will ride 76 miles and cover 8\,000 feet of vertical gain over remote\, demanding and unforgettable terrain. Unforgettable partly because of relentless climbing but more so because it might be the most beautiful place you’ll ever pedal your bike. \n\n\nWhat It’s Not…\n\n\n\nThis is not a race and it is not a pampered ride. And it’s definitely not flat. We have a safety-first mentality and have coordinated with local EMS providers in case of emergency\, but we will have limited ability to provide on-course services beyond food\, water\, and medical. Your bike and in particular your brake pads\, MUST be in excellent condition. We will have very limited ability to provide sag support so ride within yourself\, stay hydrated\, and plan to finish the day under your own power.

SUMMARY:Squatch Till You Drop
DESCRIPTION:Local folklore speaks of Sasquatch sightings during the early history of Little Rock AR. Through the mid to late 1800s\, several different companies harvested the forests that later became Hillcrest and the Heights neighborhoods\, and Allsopp Park. Loggers would tell tales of “huge\, man-like beasts” roaming the woods at night. Since the dedication of Allsopp Park in 1931 and the development of surrounding areas\, Sasquatch sightings have decreased but do persist. There have been multiple unconfirmed Sasquatch sightings in this area since 1932. Others believe the majority of the Sasquatch population migrated to Miller County and are now known as the “Fouke Monster”. \n“Squatch Till You Drop” is a trail running event at Allsopp Park South that pays tribute to this legend. Participants will traverse these Sasquatch habitats on very technical single track that will challenge even the fittest of runners. \n2 separate runs make up this event. The first is the “Fun Run”\, open to all ages. The Fun Run is a single lap of the course. \nThe second run is The Squatch\, open to participants ages 16+. Participants will complete as many laps of the course as they can within 6 hours. \nThe course is approximately 5k. Both the Fun Run and The Squatch use the same course. \nDo you have what it takes to “Squatch Till You Drop”? Register today and on November 16th take on the challenge!

SUMMARY:Whitney's Race 2024
DESCRIPTION:Whitney’s Race is not just Whitney’s race. It is a race against time for those yet to be afflicted with pancreatic cancer\, the most deadly cancer. It is Time To Cure® pancreatic cancer. Whitney’s Time To Cure® has passed. Whitney Marsh perished at age 41\, November 1\, 2018\, ten months after diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. Five-year survival from pancreatic cancer stands at 6-9% showing little to no improvement in survival in the past 50 years despite vast medical advances across almost all other cancers. Pancreatic cancer is currently the number two cancer killer in 2020 and researchers estimate pancreatic cancer will be the number one by 2030. Diagnosis is often late begetting the need for local medical practitioner education as well as research for improved diagnostic testing and imaging. Once a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer has been made treatment usually involves chemotherapy with or without radiation therapy followed by curative intent surgery followed by more chemotherapy. Whitney was scheduled for surgery\, but the day before surgery a CT scan showed cancer had spread. She died within 4 months of the CT scan while re-starting chemotherapy and running 8-10 miles or biking 30-40 miles per day. Even the super-healthy are no match. Better pre-operative treatment options are the future. Whitney’s Race will fund the Whitney Marsh Foundation Inc for local education and national research for Pancreatic Cancer. Funds will be apportioned locally and the remainder with well respected national cancer research institutes such as MD Anderson. Whitney’s Race is a race against time. It is Time To Cure® pancreatic cancer. \nWhitney’s Race day at the Marshals Museum will be a great day of running\, racing\, eating\, and music. Race for your best time and afterward hang out for a great time. Bring yourself and friends to race. It is a day for family and friends who run or not. If you don’t want to race\, come anyway. If you can’t come\, consider a donation anytime!  A brighter future for pancreatic cancer starts with YOU.

SUMMARY:Ouachita Triple Crown
DESCRIPTION:We are stoked to partner with the city of Hot Springs to make The Ouachita Triple Crown part of the Gudrun Northwoods Festival this year!! Participants are encouraged to join in on the rest of the Gudrun activities and parties\, it is a great time in the Northwoods! \nThe Ouachita Triple Crown route was first mapped by Kenny Williams in 2019.  He wanted to link together three International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) Epic Trails into one epic bikepacking route.  When connected by gravel roads\, the Ouachita Trail (OT)\, the Womble Trail\, and the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT) create a circle around Lake Ouachita. \nIMBA Epic Trails are the best of the best\, and Arkansas has more of them that any other state.  The Ouachita Mountains\, composed of rocky ridges and narrow\, spring cooled valleys\, is the perfect landscape for an IMBA Epic Trail.  The mountains are wild\, beautiful\, and rugged. \nPARTICIPANTS MUST SIGN UP WITH TRACKLEADERS FOR THE EVENT! \nOctober 1st will be the last day for full registration for anyone that needs to withdraw. An event shirt or requested shirt size will only be promised for participants registered by October 20th.

SUMMARY:Beast of Burden
DESCRIPTION:Ozark Off-Road Cyclist and the Ozark Trail Runners unite to create the most epic 24 25 hour party you’ve ever experienced. Profits from this “race” will go to continued preservation and trail development on Mt. Kessler. Join us on November 2nd\, Mt. Kessler – Fayetteville\, Arkansas for a full day of partying in the dirt. Individuals or teams will take on the challenge to ride or run from 12pm on Saturday to 12pm on Sunday\, thanks to daylight savings time\, you get an extra hour for free! \nThe “Race” – 24 (+ 1 hour for free) hours of either mtb or trail running madness\, or….BOTH! The team/solo individual with the most laps wins. \nThe Course – The course will be comprised of 2 separate loops\, with participants rotating loops every 6 hours. Runners and riders will be on their own separate loops to minimize congestion. Each loop is roughly 4-6 miles long. One loop is easy\, one loop will have you dreaming cozy warmth of the campfire. \nThe Teams* – Teams must have a team captain (primary contact). Teams are either fully bike or fully run\, or dual sport and comprised of 2-4 participants on the Ultra team or 5-7 participants on the Endurance team (dual sport teams can have up to 8). You choose how much you want to work. Go for the win\, or occasionally exert yourself and spend the rest of the time throwing back Fossil Cove’s tasty beverages. 1 person does 90% of the work or split it evenly. It’s up to you! Each team will receive one timing chip (triathlon style band) that can only be exchanged in the Campout Zone. \nNote that run/ride teams will have 2 timing chips\, one can only used for running and one only for riding. So\, it is possible run/ride teams to have two participants on the course at one time\, but only one of each discipline. \n*You can also choose to participate solo\, but remember\, no one asked you to do this. \nThe Party – Let’s be honest\, the whole thing is the party\, but since you asked. Dinner and breakfast are provided. Trailside Coffee starts when the bell tolls 12. Bumping tunes. Team Spirit competition.  Fire pits burning through the night and more to come. Also\, Rise Physical Therapy will be keeping participants feeling fresh and limber\, while Phat Tire will be keeping them bikes uh’ rollin’\,
