SUMMARY:First Sunday Ride
DESCRIPTION:The First Sunday Ride is a simple idea. Frank Webber of Shift Modern Cyclery and Joe Jacobs of ArkansasOutside.com wanted to carve out time each month to enjoy the local trails with friends. Instead of keeping it to themselves\, they decided to open the invite to anyone who wants to join. This is a casual friends ride where new faces are welcome\, good conversations happen\, and the goal is to have fun on the dirt. \nEach month\, riders come together to explore local singletrack\, meet fellow riders\, and get to know the trails that make central Arkansas such a great place to ride. Frank and Joe love seeing new people show up\, so if you are looking for a welcoming group to ride with\, this is your chance. \nThe first ride will meet at the Equestrian Trailhead Parking Lot in Burns Park at 1 pm on Sunday\, December 7\, 2025. If the turnout is large\, riders will split into A\, B\, and C groups so everyone can find the pace and style of ride that fits. Eat before you arrive\, bring your helmet\, and be ready to roll right at 1 pm. \nIf you have not tried the new and rebuilt trails at Burns Park\, this is the perfect time to discover them. If you already know the system\, then you know how much fun is waiting. Come ride\, make new friends\, and start your month with a good time on the trail. \nEach rider is responsible for themselves on this ride.

SUMMARY:4th Annual Central Arkansas' Last Chance Run
DESCRIPTION:Please join local running clubs including the Arkansas Running Klub\, Arkansas Ultra Running Association\, Blue Rose Running Co.\, Cabot Country Cruisers\, Conway Running Club\, Fun Arkansas Running Club\, Little Rock Roadrunners\,  River Valley Runners\, Saline County Striders and the Spa Pacers on Saturday\, December 27th at 9 AM for the 4th Annual Central Arkansas’ Last Chance Run!  This FREE run will take place at War Memorial Park and anyone is welcome to participate! We will meet in the parking lot west of the roundabout at Fair Park Blvd and Zoo Dr.  There is limited parking within the park\, but there is plenty of overflow parking at the nearby War Memorial Stadium. \nThere will be 2.5 mile marked loop around the park that participants will be welcome to run or walk as many times as they would like!   There will also be a 1/2 mile kids run at 8:40 AM. \nDrinks and snacks will be provided after the run in a covered pavilion and there will be a number of door prizes to be given away to registered participants that are in attendance.  Many of the participating running clubs and sponsors will have tables and tents set up so you can get in your miles with old friends\, and then hang out out afterwards to make some new ones! \nWe will also be taking online donations for the Arkansas Foodbank.  We will not be accepting canned food donations this year. Donations are not required\, but are encouraged.  The participating running clubs will once again have a friendly competition to win the Last Chance Run Cup.  See more information below. \nThank you to our sponsors and friends that have helped to make this event possible: Arkansas RRCA Grand Prix\, Blue Rose Physical Therapy\, Coker Fit Photographer\, Fleet Feet Little Rock\, Garner Timing Services\, Little Rock Parks & Recreation and Rock City Running.  Special thanks to Little Rock Parks & Recreation for once again allowing us to use War Memorial Park for the event! \nPlease note that this is a “rain or shine” event with exception for unsafe inclement weather (e.g. lightning). Those who choose to participate should recognize that the suggested route will be open to the public and part of the loop will involve running along a sidewalk of a city street with vehicular traffic. Each individual is encouraged to use appropriate caution and is responsible for his or her own safety.  Additionally\, if runners choose to run outside the designated loop they need to do so at their own discretion\, as the streets around the park will be open to the public. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Last Chance Cup – Benefiting Arkansas Food Bank\n\nCurrently 1 in 6 Arkansans struggle to provide enough food for their family\, and 1 in 5 children in Arkansas are at risk for going hungry.  As the largest hunger-relief organization in the state\, The Arkansas Foodbank is the foundation in the fight against hunger. They find pathways to connect people\, resources and food to reach those in need\, providing dignity\, hope and a brighter future for all Arkansans. \nWe will once again be having a friendly competition for the Last Chance Run Cup that will culminate at midnight on December 31\, 2025.  The winning club will be determined based on the number of meals provided per club member with every $1 donated being equal to 5 meals.  In the first two years the event has raised nearly $16\,000 in donations and 2\,106 lbs of food were collected..  As a result more than 83\,000 meals were able to be provided to Arkansans because of the generosity of our running community!  Let’s continue to add to that amazing total this year! \n**Please note that we will only be doing online donations via Runsignup.  No food will be collected the day of the event. \nDonations are not required\, but are encouraged.  If you are part of a club please make any cash donations by clicking on the club name below.  If you aren’t part of a running club\, but wish to make a donation\, you can either donate on behalf of a club of your choice or visit www.arkansasfoodbank.org.

SUMMARY:Athens Big Fork Trail Marathon & 17 Mile Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 27th annual Athens Big Fork Trail Marathon and 17 Mile Blaylock Creek Fun Run. Both events are on an “out-and-back” well marked course beginning and ending at the Big Fork Community Center\, utilizing the Athens-Big Fork trail.  Full Marathon runners will climb eight mountains twice with ~7\,000′ of cumulative gain. The event is free/donation based. A minimum $25 donation is suggested to cover our costs. All proceeds over our cost will be donated to the Big Fork community Center and the Ouachita Amateur Radio Association\, who help us keep our runners safe. \nWe will have three fully stocked aid stations. All aid stations will be fully stocked with your typical aid station fare. In addition\, each of our aid captains provide their own bougie concoctions for you to enjoy.  This event is free but you wouldn’t guess it based on the food offerings. Please bring your own cup or handheld because the race will be cupless this year.  There will be an option to purchase a post-race meal ticket. The post race meal will be catered once again by Cheryl with the Big Fork Mall (details coming soon for race swag and meal tickets via email).  Buy early because there will be no race-day meal ticket purchases and swag is pre-purchase only. \nWe encourage you to bring a chair\, blanket and other comfort items and plan to stick around to cheer in the finishers.  The community experience at the finish is one of the many things that makes this race so unique and popular. \nAwards:\nWe will have awards for overall male and female in both the full and fun runs.  We also offer unique awards to our 10 and 20 year finishers. We do not offer finish awards because this race experience is reward enough. \nAid Stations:\nMARATHON RUN:\nLittle Missouri Trailhead\nMile 3.8 Outbound & Mile 22.4 Inbound\n3:42PM Cutoff (Mile 22.4)\nBlaylock Creek West Trailhead\nMile 8.5 Outbound & Mile 17.7 Inbound\n10:30AM Cutoff (mile 8.5) for marathon runners\nTurn Around (Forest Rd B23F – Southern Trailhead)\nMile 13.1 – the turn around \n*Marathon runners may drop to the 17 mile fun run on race day. This can be a game day decision. We highly encourage all marathon runners to take a good assessment of how you are feeling when you reach Blaylock Creek (mi 8.5) and if it just isn’t your day switch to the Fun Run. \n*There is an early start option for those requiring more than 8 hours. Do NOT take this option if you are capable of finishing in the 8 hour timeframe. (Early start details will be included in race email.) \n*Due to the remote nature of this event\, there is NO SHUTTLE SERVICE with the exception of a medical emergency. You go in on your own two feet and you come out on your own two feet. Again\, this is good reason to take an honest assessment of how you are feeling when you arrive at the Blaylock Creek aid station. It can be a long and tough slog if you do not heed this warning. \n17 MILE FUN RUN:\nLittle Missouri Trailhead\nMile 3.8 Outbound \nBlaylock Creek West Trailhead – Turnaround\nMile 8.5 Outbound – Turnaround for 17 mile fun run only \nSafety/Required Gear: a hydration system (handheld or bladder) and a light source (handheld or headlamp). A windbreaker or space blanket is strongly suggested but not required. Runner safety is a high priority for us. We will have HAM radio operators at every aid station and they will be in communication with us at Net Control at all times. We also have several medical entities on stand by. It is worth taking your cell phone because runners are often able to get service on the top of some of the mountain peaks. I will provide my cell number in the December runner email. \n NOTE: This event is NOT for trail-newbies.\nIf you are not an experienced trail – or ultra-runner (or adventure racer)\, we happily invite you to one of the other UTS runs\, BUT NOT THIS ONE. This is a difficult event on a difficult trail that presents many opportunities for one to get lost\, injured\, exhausted\, or incapacitated–with sparse access for rescue.\nPlease do not be enticed into trying this run because of the difficulty warning–it is merely an honest attempt at preventing the run organizers from having to find and rescue someone ill-equipped for the event.\nA cut-off time of 10:30am (2.5 hours) will be enforced at the turn-around (half-way) point for the 17-mile run. Runners reaching that point after 10:30 must turn around (–NOT proceed on the marathon course).

SUMMARY:Village Creek 10K/25K Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:New Date!\nWelcome to year 13 \nVillage Creek the Legend! Lace ‘em up tight! Like we always say\, “Mud\, Sweat\, and Tears!” That’s what you will find here at Village Creek State Park. The 31st and 2nd largest in Arkansas. Located just 6 miles south of Wynne\, Village Creek State Park encompasses nearly 7\,000 acres. We have an amazing multi-use trail system that is virtually untouched by the running community most of the year. Equestrian\, Mountain Bike\, and Hiking Trails combine to form a little over 26 miles of manicured sweetness atop the geologic anomaly know as Crowley’s Ridge. \nOur race features a multitude of ups and downs\, both physically and emotionally! Your day will consist of creeks\, mud\, leaves\, sticks\, steep ridgelines\, and our infamous rolling pipeline. All the while a tub of buttercream icing and warm homemade cinnamon rolls wait for you at the finish. \nThe start/finish sits at the edge of our lower campground and boasts some of the most pristine bath houses of any state park! You can camp so close to the start line that all ya gotta do is roll over toot\, tinkle\, brush\, and run! If cabins are more your thing\, no fear! Village Creek has a number of 5 star cabins available just up the hill towards Lake Dunn. \nThe 25k has a 6 hour time limit. You have approximately 3hr and 15min to make it to our bib check at the 25k turn around. If you have not checked out of the turn around by the 3:15 mark chances are you aren’t gonna get a cinnamon roll….I kid\, I kid! You just won’t get a hot one! \nThe 25K is an out and back route starting at the bicycle entrance to the following markers 13\,14\,15\,16\,17\,18\, north past 19 towards 20 where you will reach the turnaround. Aid stations will be at approximate half way points for both races. This is a cup free race! Bring your own bottles! The 10k route coming soon!
