The 1-mile course will be on the trail with a turnaround point halfway. We ask that you please try to run on the right side of the trail as to not impede those who are returning to the finish. While the majority of the 5k is along the trail\, there is a small portion that goes into a neighborhood. It is your responsibility to obey all traffic laws and be aware of your surroundings. Please run opposing vehicular traffic whenever possible. \n4) We will have the portion of the 5k course that goes into the neighborhood marked with some cones so you hopefully will know when to turn. Still\, please check out the course map prior to the run if you can! \n4) We are anticipating a nice turn out for this event\, and we are excited! We hope you can make it and meet other runners/walkers! \n5) While we love our four-legged friends\, we ask that you abstain from bringing them to this event in case there are runners who are wary of dogs. \n6) Strollers and dogs will be allowed\, but we ask that you start at the back of the pack! \n7) WARNING: There are no bathrooms readily available at the start/finish line of this event. There are bathrooms at the Fitness Center\, which you will need to ask permission to use\, and there are also bathrooms across the street at the McDonald’s. If after 30 minutes the lightning has not subsided\, we will have to cancel the event (but we will still pass out the medals to everyone who registered). There is a possibility that a large rainstorm prior to the event could block off access to the northern part of the trail (under the Prince Street bridge). In that case\, we will have the 5k runners use the 1-mile turn around to make 3 down and back loops.

SUMMARY:Central Arkansas Cyclocross - Race 1
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Central Arkansas Cyclocross Series “CACS” \nThe atmosphere of cyclocross racing is what draws many racers and fans to the sport. Cyclocross is very spectator friendly with the courses set up in local parks and the short races happening at high speeds. Although the racing can be highly competitive on the course\, there’s a festival environment outside the course tape. \nWhat is Cyclocross?\nCyclocross combines elements of road cycling\, mountain biking\, and steeplechase. Races are relatively short (20-60 minutes)\, held on 2.5- to 3.5-kilometer closed circuit courses in parks and open spaces. Riders race over varying amounts of pavement\, grass\, dirt\, and sand. \nCan I use a mountain bike or gravel bike for cyclocross? \nAlmost any standard bicycle with two wheels can be used for cyclocross at local cyclocross races. Bicycles with drop handlebars are standard equipment for cyclocross\, but flat bars (with no forward or upward extensions) are allowed. Gravel bikes can be used for cyclocross races\,  Drop handlebars are required at USA Cycling Cyclocross National. \nTire Width Rules for Cyclocross\nThe condensed version is that any tire width is allowed for local USA Cycling-permitted cyclocross races. \nPoints for the Series\nPoints for each race will be awarded based on how many participants come and the race. The winner of the series will be awarded

SUMMARY:Arkansas NICA Race 2 - Mid Season Classic
DESCRIPTION:One of the great things about a NICA League\, which separates us from other youth cycling development programs\, is we produce our own youth-specific events. This means we pick out race venues and work directly with landowners and managers to produce the highest quality youth development racecourses and events. The student-athletes get a stage of their own\, away from adult competitions\, and we strive for safety and fun above all other factors. \nThe Arkansas League will produce a total of 7 events in 2024.  On our Time Trial weekend we will have a special Race Clinic Event on that Saturday aimed at getting more girls on bikes in addition to allowing newer riders have a practice race\, attend a race clinic and do their first mass start.  Followed by a Prelude Time Trial and 4 races in the fall.  New for 2024 we have 2 Regions.  Plains (Central\, South and NE Arkansas) and Plateaus (NWA and OK generally).    The competitive racing will consist of 2 regional events\, and 2 All league Events.   We will crown regional champions at the end of Race 3 based of total points and also have a true “winner take all” State Championship Event at Race 4.  Athletes must have attended atleast 2 prior races to be eligible to win the State Championship.
