SUMMARY:Ouachita Trail 50
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 35th running of the Ouachita Trail 50 Endurance Run! \nWe are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  All donations and profits for this event will go to Pinnacle Mountain State Park. \nThe OT50 was started by a group of early Arkansas ultra runners who came together\, drew from their various ultra race experiences\, and committed to putting on a quality fifty miler in Arkansas. As the oldest enduring Arkansas Ultra Running Association event\, that intent lives on. The 50 mile and 50 km runs feature a picturesque climb over Pinnacle Mountain followed by an out-and-back traversing the rolling hills along the north shore of beautiful Lake Maumelle. Get ready for scenic\, rocky\, single-track as you tour Pinnacle Mountain State Park and the eastern part of the 222 mile Ouachita National Recreation Trail. \nProceeds benefit Pinnacle Mountain State Park \nGeneral Information: \nLocation: Maumelle Park\, Little Rock\, Arkansas\, Pavilion # 8 \nStarting Time: 6:00 AM for 50 Mile and 50 Km. Runners must check in at the pavilion a minimum of 30 minutes before the start time. \nPackets: Race packets may be picked up on Friday\, April 17th from 3pm-6pm at Fleet Feet Little Rock – 11525 Cantrell Rd #102\, Little Rock\, AR or at Pavilion #8 on race morning.  FOR SAFETY REASONS\, BIBS & TIMING CHIPS WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNTIL RACE MORNING. \nCourse Description: Starting and ending with two miles of pavement between Maumelle Park and the eastern Ouachita Trail terminus at Pinnacle Mountain State Park\, the course features a picturesque climb over and around Pinnacle Mountain followed by an out-and-back along the shore of Lake Maumelle on the Ouachita National Recreation Trail. Most of the Ouachita Trail is a scenic\, rocky\, single-track foot path. The trail is permanently marked with blue blazes. Turns are marked with two blue blazes. Additional markers (blue and white striped ribbon) will also mark the course. The Pinnacle Mountain trails and loop are utilized on the “out” portion only. 50K participants will be diverted off of the OT around the 16 mile point and will follow a different approach to the Northshore Aid Station. The course involves several highway crossings\, and there will likely be no traffic control. Please be responsible and be careful! NOTE: If conditions are wet\, the course may be rerouted to avoid the top of Pinnacle Mountain. This is due to safety concerns and is mandated by the state park. \nAid: Eleven staffed aid stations for 50-mile; seven for 50Km. (See mileage/aid station chart) Carrying at least one fluid bottle is HIGHLY advised. Aid station fare includes water\, Gatorade\, soft drinks\, chips\, cookies\, crackers\, candy\, peanuts\, various sandwiches\, bananas\, oranges and whatever creative items our amazing aid captains come up with.  They put out a very nice spread! No Advil\, Aspirin\, or other pain relievers will be supplied at aid stations.\n \nCrew access: Crews can meet runners at East Pinnacle Parking Lot\, West Summit Trailhead\, Northshore\, and the Hwy 10 turnaround only. \nDrop Bags: Drop bags will be taken to the Northshore and Hwy 10 (50 mile only) aid stations. Please label drop bags with these names\, your name and bib number to avoid confusion. Bags can be dropped off during race check-in. We will try to return bags to the finish area as soon as possible. Please pick up drop bags after the race or make arrangements for them\, as they will not be mailed back to you. \nCut-off Times: There is a 13-hour time limit for the 50 Miler\, and 7:00 PM cut-off for both races. Runners registered in the 50 Mile have the option to change to the 50Km during the race. To continue in the 50 Mile race\, a runner must exit the Northshore aid station by 10:15 AM (out-bound) and 3:20 PM (returning)\, the Hwy 10 Turnaround aid station by 12:50 PM\, and East Pinnacle aid station (returning) by 6:05 PM. To continue in the 50k race\, a runner must exit North Shore by 1:20 PM and East Pinnacle by 6:05 PM (returning). These cut off times will be strictly enforced. \nRace Shirts: You will have the option of choosing a Women’s or Men’s fit race shirt.  However\, you must register by March 11th to guarantee your shirt size.  If you register after that date you may be given a shirt from the prior year. \nAwards: Finishing awards will be awarded to each 50K and 50 Mile finisher. Overall awards to first male and female\, open and masters finisher in the 50K and 50 Mile. Awards will be presented as you finish. \nFinish Line Food: The race will be catered again this year.  You will receive one meal ticket at the finish line.  Options TBA soon.  Bring cash if you think you will want more than one meal for you or your family. \nRace Parking: Volunteers will be directing arriving runners on race morning in order to park as many vehicles as possible at pavilion number 8. Your cooperation will help us achieve this. If overflow parking is required\, please use the parking lot for the pavilions just inside Maumelle Park (see map in the runner packet). It is critical that you DO NOT park along Pinnacle Valley Road. \nRace Director: Stacey Shaver\, email (preferred) OT50@Runarkansas.com

There are numerous restrooms\, including permanent restrooms on the River Trail and portable ones that we will place on the course. The course crosses the Big Dam Bridge at Miles 1 and 18\, the Clinton Presidential Bridge at Mile 9\, and the Two Rivers Bridge at Miles 19 and 26. The course crosses the Start/Finish line going west at 19 miles. The course is mostly flat\, except for the three bridges. The course is mostly paved trail. It will be December in Arkansas\, so it could be 20 degrees or 70 degrees and may change that much overnight. Bring plenty of warm clothes for after the race. You may retrieve your bag immediately upon finishing\, get warm\, and enjoy food\, music\, and fellowship. \nEarly Start \nAn early start of 5:00 am will be allowed for those expecting to take between six and eight hours. If you did not indicate so with your online registration\, email your request to info@3bridgesmarathon.com with the email subject EARLY START.   You may not take the early start option unless you have registered online with your normal race registration or received an email confirmation of your post-registration email request. Runners starting early without having registered to do so are subject to disqualification. If you are unsure\, confirm at packet pickup that you are on the registered early start list. \nSee the Parking instructions for early starters. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in disqualification and ban from future 3 Bridges events. \nPhotographs \nRace photographs will be taken by Marvin Winston and his team from Run Bike Swim Photos. Signs will indicate upcoming photographers. You will be contacted after the race with proofs and purchase information. Photos can be ordered at www.runbikeswimphotos.com. \nPost-Race Activities \nPost-race finish line activities will include the awards ceremony at 11:00 a.m. and food and beverages for runners\, friends\, and family. \nRace Results \nRace results will be provided immediately by Garner Timing Services on your smart phone through the RunSignUp.com Results app in your app store. Law enforcement will be on hand at the Start/Finish and at every section of the course that converges with traffic. \nFor the short sections of the Arkansas River Trail that converge with the roadway\, runners must remain aware of vehicular traffic at all times. Runners must remain to the right side of the roadway\, observe course monitors’ instruction\, and proceed through intersections with caution. Pets are prohibited on the 3 Bridges Marathon trolley\, except for service animals. \nShirts \nShirts are long-sleeve unisex technical fabric. Shirt exchanges will not be mailed after race day. \nSpectator Guide \nSee the Spectators guide prepared for your friends and family to enjoy the day cheering for you along the course. You will not find another course on trails this beautiful that is also this accessible. The guide includes directions\, descriptions\, and approximate mile marks for numerous viewing areas. Your friends and family may see you many times\, often twice at one stop in a short period. Better yet\, have your friends and family volunteer for an early or late shift and cheer the other half of the day! \nThe course is almost entirely on the Arkansas River Trail system. However\, in a few short stretches\, roads with vehicular access converge with sections of the trail. Although we know you will be very mindful of traffic and there will be police officers at these locations\, please remind your friends and family that if they drive near the course to be courteous and careful. \nTime Limit \nThe race begins at 7:00 a.m. There is a 6 hour time limit for the regular start. There is an early start option at 5:00 a.m. for runners planning to take between 6 and 8 hours. There is an 8 hour time limit for the early start. See details under Early Start above. Runners expecting to take longer than six hours are asked to take the early start option or may be removed from the course. \nTravel \nThere is no host hotel and no hotel within walking distance to the parking lots. Race shuttles will not offer pickups from hotels. Prior transportation plans are encouraged. \nParticipants staying at local hotels may have a cab bring them to the race parking lot\, and then ride the shuttle to the starting line. Cabs will only be allowed to deliver participants to the starting line for the Early Start. Instructing your cab to drive down River Mountain Road for the regular start may result in disqualification and ban from future 3 Bridges events. \nVolunteers \nIt takes a tremendous number of volunteers to carry out a marathon. See Volunteers for clubs and organizations involved. Every major running club in central Arkansas has committed members and resources to make the 3 Bridges Marathon possible. If you would like to volunteer write info@3bridgesmarathon.com. \nWaiver \nThe marathon waiver is included with your online registration. Specifically note the Event Policies tab regarding cancellations\, registration refunds\, deferral option\, waiting list\, transfers\, and inclement weather. Online signature of the waiver upon registration acknowledges your understanding and adherence to all event policies. \nThank you for complying with all runner instructions.
