SUMMARY:Mount Magazine Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Magazine is home to magnificent bluffs which make for breathtaking scenery\, provide spectacular views\, and make it popular for hang gliders and climbers alike. Magazine also offers numerous trails for hiking atop the mountain and into the valley below. It’s now time to enjoy those trails as runners. \nCome join us for the 8th Mount Magazine Fun Run. We’ll start just north of the visitor center (see map below)\, and hit almost every trail in the park\, along with a portion of the Cove Lake Trail. The run will be approximately 18 miles\, with a trip to the base of the mountain\, via the Cove Lake Trail\, and back to the top. \nParking is limited. PLEASE carpool where possible! \n\nVolunteers/Runners If you have a fever\, cough\, shortness of breath\, sore throat\, or loss of taste or smell\, or if you have been exposure to someone with Covid-19 in the past 14 days PLEASE DO NOT COME.\nFeel free to hang out after the race\, this year we will have hot dogs and the fixins at the finish.\nThere will be a donation box\, once costs are covered (including gas money for volunteers)\, all extra goes to the Mt Magazine Visitor Center for trail work & maintenance.\n\nThis is a fun run and there are no entry fees but please register so we know how many to prepare for. Contact PT if you have any questions. Food will be provided after the run. There will be a donation can to help cover expenses.

DESCRIPTION:Mount Magazine State Park\, a natural “island in the sky\,” looms over the Arkansas River Valley\, and is home to Signal Hill\, the highest point in the state\, elevation 2\,753 feet.\nIt is also home to magnificent bluffs which make for breathtaking scenery\, provide spectacular views\, and make it popular for hang gliders and climbers alike. Magazine also offers numerous trails for hiking & running atop the mountain and into the valley below. \nThis is a fun run and there are no entry fees but please register so we know how many to prepare for. After expenses are covered remaining proceeds go to the Mt Magazine Visitor Center. \nParking is limited. PLEASE carpool where possible! \n\nAfter the race we will have hot dogs and the fix’ns at the finish. Please hang around\, eat\, visit\, and enjoy the mountain top. Adult beverages are welcome\, but please be discreet.\nWe have added a cut-off time\, for the 18M run\, of 11am at the staffed aid-station at mile 10.5 (behind the campground). If you get to the aid-station after 11\, you will be directed to continue to the 12M finish.\n\n \nAlso\, check out the GOOGLE MAP for more details. \nGoogle Maps Driving Directions to race start. \nDirections:\nMount Magazine State Park is located on Scenic Highway 309 approximately 17 miles south of Paris; or from Danville\, travel nine miles west on Highway 10 to Havana\, then go 10 miles north on Scenic Highway 309. It is staffed and it will have water/gatorade/snacks.\nThere is a new 11am cut-off at the staffed aid-station (mile 10.5)\, for runners doing the 18M run. If you miss it\, you will be dropped down to the 12M run.\nSome folks like to bring food to share.
