SUMMARY:Newton County Brutality
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Newton County Mentality\nThree Days of Bikes and Community\nFriday:\nWe’ll start things off on Friday afternoon with a 3-4 mile time trial that stays within the canyon walls\, ripping around on the gravel and world-class singletrack at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch (HCR). You’ll choose your bike\, but choose wisely cause you have to use that bike on Saturday and Sunday too. Finish the day with a meal in the Lodge Restaurant\, a campfire with friends\, and a good night’s rest in the cool fall temperatures. \nSaturday:\nThe big day — you’ll set out to tackle the best\, and hardest gravel riding in the state of Arkansas. This is backcountry gravel at its finest: big climbs\, fast and technical descents\, remote roads\, and the best views that the Ozark Mountains have to offer (remember\, it’s peak fall foliage). You’ll choose between 65- and 40-mile categories\, each expecting around 9\,000 and 5\,000 feet of climbing\, respectively.\nReturn to the ranch tired and empty\, then fill your bellies with a huge helping at the Lodge Restaurant (they call it “adventure nutrition meets local tradition”). Live music will ensue in the field below the lodge\, and although you’ll likely be cracked from the day of pedaling you’ll want to dance the night away with drinks in hand. And it’ll be ok cause the next day’s challenge plays on the word “fun\,” not “difficult.” \nSunday:\nGrab your friends (or enemies)\, take your clue card\, and adventure around the ranch on your bike\, completing challenges in a scavenger hunt-style format. CHILL PACE – WE AIN’T TIMING YOU! Bring your proof of completion back to the Trading Post\, and you’ve conquered the most famous stage farce on the planet. Awards will be given\, laughs will be had\, and then tents will be packed up. And although you will be free to go home\, we can pretty much guarantee you won’t want to. \n  \nWhat’s included? \n“ALL IN” pass includes: \n\nChipped race plate for the time trial on Friday and gravel course on Saturday\nYour name will be entered to win raffle prizes from our partners:  Bearded Goat\, Cafe du Cycliste\, Rapha\, Kuat\, Skratch Labs\, Specialized and many more!\nDinner at the Lodge Restaurant Friday and Saturday nights\nInaugural event tee by Allied Cycle Works\nLive music under the stars\nFossil Cove Beer and other bevvies\nHCR weekend day passes 11/1-11/3\nCamping\nMeteor Aid station and 37 North + Bike Inn SAG support\nCompeting for stage farce podiums announced on Sunday\nPlus lots of RO3 partner surprises\n\n“COMING IN HOT!” pass includes: \n\nChipped race plate for the gravel course on Saturday\nInaugural event tee by Allied Cycle Works\nMeteor Aid station and 37 North + Bike Inn SAG support\nThis ticket is for those who can’t make it on Friday and can only drive in Saturday morning.\nYou can also add the one night camping\, beer\, drinks\, dinner Saturday night and live music if you can stick around!\n\nFriends + Family WEEKEND pass includes: \n\nDinner Friday and Saturday nights\, beer and N/A drinks\, live music\, camping\, and HCR day passes.\n\nKids WEEKEND pass includes: \n\nDinner Friday and Saturday nights\, live music\, camping\, and HCR day passes.\n\nSaturday pass includes: \n\nDinner Saturday night\, drinks\, live music\, camping\, and HCR day pass.\n\nKids Saturday pass includes: \n\nDinner Saturday night\, live music\, camping\, and HCR day pass.\n\n  \nCamping \nCamping is included with the “ALL IN” pass and you can also add one night to the “COMING IN HOT” pass.  It will be located on-site at the event location.  This is a gorgeous open field with plenty of space to pitch a tent\, park your sprinter van or small teardrop trailers. SUMMARY:Doom
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 4th edition of Ozark Gravel Doom – the premier bikepacking event of Arkansas! \nThis is not for the faint of heart; it’s a proper Ozark backcountry experience. Forest Service and County roads get ROWDY. A hardtail mountain bike with 2.2″ tires or bigger is the general recommendation. If you’re a fan of underbiking\, you won’t be stopped but you’ve been warned. \nResupply runouts are one of the most notable challenges of this event. A combo of limited store hours and tiny “towns” take the logistics to a heightened level. \nBelow are the tentative routes. Changes will be minor if any – water levels can attribute to this. Expect some water crossings no matter what. \nDoom  \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/45392659 \nDespair \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/45393331 \nDismay  \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/48643965 \nThe start/finish venue is Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. Vehicles can be parked here for the entirety of the event and there’s plenty of camping for everyone! Cabins are also available for booking. We blocked off cabins Friday\, Saturday and Sunday night for this event so you’ll have to call to make a reservation. Just mention you’re participating in Doom and they’ll let you book anything that’s still available! Camping is first come\, first serve – but they won’t run out of space. They’re actively working on an additional campground that will have reservable sites as well (2025 TBD). Horseshoe Canyon Ranch day rates\, meal pricing\, and other amenities & activities can be found via the link below. \nhttps://www.horseshoecanyon.com/ \nDoom & Despair riders will be required to carry a tracking device and register via Trackleaders (this happens closer to the event) so please be aware an additional cost will come up apart from this event registration. Renting ends up being around $80 and providing your own ends up being around $30. \nDoom & Despair riders get gremlin bells the morning of the event. These have to be attached to the bike in some form or fashion throughout the ride. \nDismay was added to get more people in on the party! Tracking is optional. \nFull refunds available before March 1st\, 2025; no refunds after that. You may transfer your registration to someone else or you can defer as credit to a future event. \n*This is a self-supported event. You will be given loads of emails as the event date approaches to set you up for success and to answer a lot of commonly asked questions. Despair & Dismay riders will be able to sleep in the backyard of an airbnb being rented in Oark for night one and use the facilities in the house (running water\, toilet\, etc.). If you need to be picked up on route it is your responsibility to figure it out. If it’s an emergency\, we will treat it as an emergency.

SUMMARY:Newton County Mentality
DESCRIPTION:Imagine descending into one of the most beautiful canyons in Arkansas on a fall afternoon in early November\, the leaves at peak foliage – passing windy ribbons of singletrack\, imposing sandstone walls\, vistas\, and log cabins as you enter the iconic Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. This idyllic gem of the Ozarks will be your home for the next three days. You’ll camp\, hang with your friends\, ride your bike really really hard\, dance your face off\, eat great food\, drink a few beers\, and meander around the canyon chasing down wacky checkpoints in an effort to finish off what you started – a gravel stage farce* we like to call the Newton County Mentality. \n*fake stage race
