FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – As part of this weekend’s Beast of Burden event at Kessler Mountain Regional Park, several park trails will be closed to the public on Saturday, Nov. 4, and Sunday, Nov. 5.
The 24-hour endurance race begins at noon on Saturday and ends at noon on Sunday. The event is being held in partnership with Ozark Off-Road Cyclist and the Ozark Trail Runners, and profits will go to continued preservation and trail development on Kessler Mountain.
The following trails will be closed to the public for competition from 12 p.m. Saturday to 12 p.m. Sunday:
• Trent
• Saddle Up
• Chinkapin Oak
• Last Call from lower trailhead to Chinkapin Oak
• Fayetteville Traverse from Cato Springs to Serpentine
• Crazy Mary from Chinkapin Oak to Trent
Kessler Mountain Regional Park’s natural surface trails comprise approximately 13 miles and range from easy to difficult and very difficult. The park is connected to the Razorback Regional Greenway via the Cato Springs Trail.
