Race History: The Valentine’s Day 5K dates back to the 1980’s when it was known as the “Serendipity Run”. 1994 marked the race’s first inclusion in the Arkansas RRCA Grand Prix Series.
Course Records:
Male Overall: Wayne Stanley – 15:14 (1992)
Female Overall: Leah Thorvilson – 17:14 (2010)
Male Masters: Tom Aspel – 15:52 (1996)
Female Masters: Jen Found – 20:05 (2022)
Course Description: The race starts and finishes at Russellville Junior High School.
Sweetheart Competition: A special feature of the Valentine’s Day 5K is the chance to team up with a sweetheart for additional prizes! Runners have the option of entering with their spouse in the Married Sweethearts Division, or teaming up with a “friend” in the Unmarried Sweethearts Division. The finishing times for the two Sweethearts will be added together to compete against other couples’ composite times. The Sweetheart competition is in additional to the male/female individual races and does not affect an individual’s time, placing, or award in the overall race.
