Fire Restrictions at Buffalo National River

Fire Restrictions at Buffalo National River

Hex Carbon Repair

Due to the continued dry conditions across the Ozarks, as of October 17, 2024, lighting or maintaining a campfire within the boundaries of Buffalo National River is prohibited except in the following locations:

  • Within designated campgrounds with established campfire grates/rings
  • On gravel bars in areas that are naturally devoid of vegetation

Free-standing charcoal or gas grills may be used in developed campgrounds and day-use picnic areas. There are no restrictions on the use of propane or liquid-fueled stoves and lanterns, and their use remains permitted in all areas of the park.

Please take care when igniting a fire in the permitted areas, do not leave it unattended, and keep water nearby. Build a fire that is of a reasonable size and be sure to properly extinguish the fire before you depart your site or go to bed.
