The Community Bicyclist

The 12th Annual “Buffalo Headwaters Challenge” weekend hosted by the Ozark Off Road Cyclists is January 27th to the 29th 2017 in Red Star, Arkansas. 3 days of mountain bikes, music, food, and friends just 50 miles east of Fayetteville.

Things kick off Friday with a campfire dinner highlighting 2 decades of volunteer trail advocacy as the Ozark Off Road Cyclists, a regional 501(c)3 dedicated to fostering outdoor recreational opportunities, turns 20!

On Saturday riders choose between the 40+ mile “Challenge” or the 26 or so mile “Half-Challenge” featuring the Upper Buffalo Mountain Bike Trail System, an IMBA Epic. Then they stick around for the soon to be legendary grill cheese, live music, and good times. In 2016 over 350 riders participated.

The OORC turns up the stoke Sunday morning with the “Hoot ‘N Holler”. An enduro-inspired mountain bike “experience” with shuttle service and a 15 to 20-mile route featuring some of the best downhill riding the Upper Buffalo offers.
