As a reminder, during the federal shutdown, Arkansas State Parks, Regional Parks, City Parks, and other non-federal parks continue with business as usual. We encourage you to visit these public lands for now. If you must go to places like the Buffalo National River, please review and abide by Leave No Trace ethics during your visit. Here are 5 things that will help you have a minimal impact on this beautiful area. This is a great time to turn these tips into habits whenever you head to any parks or public land. While we’re bummed the government is shut down, we’re glad that many of our national parks and other public lands have remained open to the public. The trouble is, almost all park workers are furloughed, and facilities are locked.
