FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Interscholastic Cycling League has postponed its 2025 State Championship celebration by one week, citing safety and weather concerns. The event, originally scheduled for October 25–26, will now take place November 1–2, 2025, in Fayetteville.
League officials said the decision was made after reviewing forecasts and consulting with meteorologists, engineers, and staff to ensure the best possible experience for riders and spectators.
“The biggest factor in our decision was the safety of our athletes, volunteers, and staff,” organizers said in a statement. “This is arguably going to be the hardest high school course of the year as we prepare for Central Regionals, and placing our athletes on it in terrible conditions impacts their safety, experience, and may also damage the course.”
The championship weekend marks the league’s 10-year anniversary, and officials said the celebration will continue as planned with the same schedule and events, simply shifted one week later.
League staff emphasized their commitment to trail stewardship and logistical readiness, noting that muddy conditions and strong winds could make it difficult to park more than 700 vehicles and recruit volunteers.
Event organizers thanked TC Screen Printing, Experience Fayetteville, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation, and other league sponsors for helping make the rescheduling possible.
“We know this is a major inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s understanding,” the league’s statement said. “We’ll let Mother Nature have this weekend, and we’ll take the next—with even more time to celebrate our athletes and our 10th anniversary.”
