Arkansas summer races

Defrost Yourself. Arkansas Summer Races Are Coming

Firecracker 5K

We can’t wait to complain about the heat.

Here in Arkansas we are still scraping sleet off the porch and thawing the coffee mug from this past week of Arctic misery. If you close your eyes you might swear you are somewhere warm, like Miami or Belize or your oven set to 350 degrees. It is time to think warm. Really think warm. Imagine sun baked trails. Feel your sneakers burrowing into hot pavement. Picture marshmallows puffing to golden perfection over a campfire. Now imagine yourself racing, smiling and sweating and glad that Arkansas summers are actually sweet, not subzero.

Because before you know it, the warmer months will be upon us and Arkansas will be hosting some of the best events for runners and riders who crave summer fun with a side of competition. If the past week has left you doubting that warmth is coming, take comfort in these dates and distances. It will get hot. It will be glorious.

These events are part of the Arkansas Mountain Bike Championship Series, rolling out a summer of shredding and sun soaked fun. (Registration info is not yet available on these events.)

River Valley Rumble in Fort Smith, AR on July 26, 2026, kicks things off with a mix of fast single track and competitive energy that will shake off any lingering winter blues.

The Springhill Classic in Barling, AR on August 01, 2026 follows with a course that tests both skill and stamina. Expect smiles, sweat, and plenty of sun.

Then the series heads to Race Around the Lake in Alma, AR on August 09, 2026 to wrap up this warm weather trifecta of wheels and thrills. Each race brings its own flavor, but all share the common thread of summer heat and mountain bike camaraderie.

Warm Thoughts for Cold Days

If you are reading this while bundled under ten blankets with a mug of soup held to your face like a medal of endurance, just remember. The calendar will turn. The sun will stay up later. Shorts will return to your wardrobe. Your legs will crave trails and pavement that is not slick with sleet. And when that day comes you will be ready, registered, trained and eager.
