Bricks and Fences

Chinkapin Hollow

Well, it’s a week before the next triathlon. Guess I better train! Saturday I talked Lisa into going out to the river trail and getting a little brick in. We did a little over 11 miles on the road bikes (short but fast) and then a quick 2.5 mile run turning at the top of the Big Dam Bridge. It was a good workout. I somehow stayed ahead of Lisa for the run but it wouldn’t have lasted much longer. I still have some cramping issues and was feeling my calves pull as I got off the bike but it had no effect on the run. No noodle leg either but that may have been due to a longer transition than normal.

On Sunday it was time to fix the dog’s fence. I had to take down a portion of the fence and pull up two posts then dig new post holes, replace the posts and put the fence back up. It took pretty much all day and I think I sweated off a few pounds out there. So now the gate works better and the fence is a bit straighter and the dogs did not get out last night. I went to bed very tired.

Got up this morning and swam a quick 1100 yards in the outdoor pool. Lisa made me do it sideways so I couldn’t follow the lanes. Good idea, working on swimming straight. Six days to the race!

  1. We might have hurricane issues. Of course a few years ago Lisa and I did a 25 mile ride in the remnants of hurricane Rita.
