The National Park Service (NPS) has announced a business opportunity for providing canoe rentals and shuttle services at Buffalo National River. The NPS intends to award twelve (12) concession contracts, each with a ten-year term.
The application process is now open, with interested parties able to access the prospectus at NPS Concession Prospectuses. This opportunity follows a previous cancellation, and the NPS has issued a new prospectus with revised terms.
Key dates for the application process are as follows:
- December 9, 2024: Deadline to submit questions about the prospectus, in writing, to Kelly Kager, Commercial Services Management Specialist, via email (kelly_kager@nps.gov) by 4:00 p.m. Central Time. Responses will be available on SAM.gov.
- January 14, 2025: Deadline for prospective applicants to send a notification of intent to propose via email to Kelly Kager.
- February 11, 2025: Final deadline for submitting proposals, which must be received by the NPS at Interior Regions 3, 4, 5, 601 Riverfront Drive, Omaha, Nebraska 68102, Attention: Concessions Management Specialist Kelly Kager, by 4:00 p.m. Central Time.
All applicants must follow the Proposal Instructions in the prospectus to ensure their submissions are evaluated and considered. This is a renewed opportunity after the previous solicitation was canceled earlier this year due to changes in service requirements and concession terms. The original application process was opened in March 2024 and was rescinded in October due to changes in Federal Minimum Wage requirements changes that could negatively affect the operations of the concessionaires.
