Well, Some will say that fall color was a bit of a bust this year. Of course some years you just have to know where to look.
I was up at the Ozark Folk Center State Park last week working on a photo shoot for a new brochure. I was working withthe state tourism photographer. He wanted to get some sunset shots at nearby Calico Rock, AR. He had arranged a local fisherman to cruise up and down the river to add some interest. It turned out to be beautiful. While standing on the bluff I was able to get this shot of our guy in the boat on the White River.
This is such a beautiful area. I have done an adventure race near here before. Also, the Syllamo Mountain Bike trail is nearby. It is one of the two mountain bike trails in the state designated as an “epic” trail by the International Mountain Biking Association. There is great fishing in the White river and some nice hiking nearby also. This is the area that I took Lisa on her first backpacking trip on the Sylamore trail (a site of several long distance trail runs). This shot is from the trail head area.
For other fun you can also visit Blanchard Springs Caverns just up the road. Try out the Wild Cave Tour for one of the coolest adventures in the state.

Sooo pretty! I hate that we will have missed the great color by the time we get there though. Sounds like you guys have been enjoying it – as always!
