WEST FORK, Ark. – Devil’s Den State Park will host an open house for a new trailhead at the Devil’s Racetrack Monument Trail and a new parking area, restrooms, and campground on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Devil’s Racetrack Trailhead. The Devil’s Racetrack Trailhead of the Racetrack Monument Trail is located west of the horse camp on Arkansas Highway 220 (Lee Creek Road).
The Monument Trails are a partnership between Arkansas State Parks, the Arkansas Parks & Recreation Foundation, and the Walton Family Foundation. The trails are a collection of world-class mountain biking destinations within Arkansas State Parks.
This Monument Trail project was funded by a Walton Family Foundation Home Region grant and included the rehabilitation of the Fossil Flats Mountain Biking Trail and the creation of 12 new trails that opened in May 2021. The newest amenities include the Devil’s Racetrack Trailhead, a parking area, restrooms, and changing stalls. Additionally, there will be seven new hike-in/bike-in backcountry-style campsites, nestled near Lee Creek and accessible from the new parking area.
The new amenities were designed and built by Boulder Construction of Fayetteville and the design is inspired by the Civilian Conservation Corps architectural style already present at the state park.
