Growth on Two Wheels

Shift 20240815

I was jolted out of my unplanned hiatus with a great story of developments in cycling in Arkansas…

I’ve always felt like the best thing to finish up a good bike ride is a nice tasty beer and it seems we now have one (at least seasonally) in the northwest corner of the state. Check out Hog Haus on Dickson St. in Fayetteville for a unique way to support cycling.  See the story here.

I recently helped with a new cycling brochure for the state that was created by Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.  It is a two-sided brochure with 11 sample mountain bike trails on one side and 11 road bike rides on the other.  A map in the middle shows them located throughout the state.  I hear their are already requests from other states for the brochure.  It’s a very nice piece, look for it soon at bike stores, state parks and state visitor centers.

An update from the state parks, after a lot of work by park personnel and volunteers the mountain bike trails that were closed due to damage from this winter’s ice storm are all reopened.  I’ve also heard that the Syllamo trails are open again.  Good news for area  mountain bikers!

See you outside soon.
