HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The Northwoods Trails in Hot Springs have been voted the No. 1 mountain biking destination in Arkansas for the fifth time in six years by readers of Arkansas Outside. The annual survey saw Northwoods emerge as the favorite among 42 trail systems statewide, including finalists Iron Mountain, the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail (LOViT), and the Ouachita National Recreation Trail.
“We have taken first place every year except one that Arkansas Outside has had this survey,” said Traci Berry, trails coordinator for Visit Hot Springs. “I’m so proud of our trails and the role they play in making Hot Springs the top tourism destination in Arkansas.”

The Northwoods Trails system offers over 30 miles of purpose-built trails designed by the International Mountain Bicycling Association. The network includes single-track, multi-track, flow trails, and jump lines, featuring the challenging “Lucky 13” black diamond section. Trails are marked by difficulty: green for beginners, blue for intermediate, and black for advanced riders. Most trails are also open to hikers and trail runners.
Located just minutes from downtown Hot Springs, the Northwoods Trails connect with Cedar Glades Park.. The area hosts various events throughout the year, including the annual Güdrun Mountain Bike Festival, Northwoods Enduro, Wildcat Bike Marathon, and regularly scheduled group rides.
“The Northwoods Trails crew does an incredible job at making sure the trails are in tip-top shape for expert and beginner riders alike,” Visit Hot Springs Marketing Director Bill Solleder said. “It’s no wonder Northwoods is No. 1.”

The trails are maintained by a dedicated team from Visit Hot Springs, with support from the Trail Advocacy Coalition of the Ouachitas (TACO), the local chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association. The system is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.
