Hot Springs to Host USA Cycling Ultra Endurance National Race

Calendar Race Event at Cedar Glades Park on March 12

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Hot Springs will host for the sixth year a USA Cycling Ultra Endurance National Race Calendar Race event at Cedar Glades Park on March 12 – 13.

The event is on the USA Cycling National Calendar for the third year in a row.

The weekend will include multiple events; The Spa City Six-hour Mountain Bike Race, The Du It in the Dirt Off Road Duathlon (1.8-mile run/10-mile mountain bike/1.8-mile run) and the Spa City Trail Run (4.5 miles).

The Spa City Six-hour Mountain Bike Race on March 12 is one only a handful of races in the United States chosen by USA Cycling to be part of the prestigious Ultra Endurance National Calendar.  Top level pro riders and amateurs from across the country will compete.  The pro riders will be competing for a $2,500 prize purse.  All other riders will be competing for awards in their age groups.

The Du It in the Dirt Duathlon on March 13 is the opening event of the Arkansas multisport season.  Competitors  from six surrounding states have entered.

The Spa City Trail Run on March 13 is the final event of the Arkansas Trail Running Series and will attract runners from all over Arkansas and surrounding states.

Event director Fred Phillips said, “We here in Hot Springs Arkansas are delighted to have the opportunity to host such a prominent event for USA Cycling.”

The Cedar Glades Park Facility, where the event is held, is operated by the Garland County Parks Department.  It contains 10 miles of  trails, playground equipment, an amphitheater and tree house, a remote-control airplane fly field and a championship style 10 hole disc golf course. The Cedar Glades Park trails are also home to the annual Attila the Hun Mountain Bike race that will be held on November 20th of this year is traditionally the final race of the Arkansas Mountain Biking Championship Series.
