It’s time again for the Dr. Feelgood Ronde van Burns Criterium Series. I have a habit of calling this the NASCAR of cycling. I’ll probably continue to call it that until I’ve totally annoyed all my friends. In reality it is one of those bike racing events like cyclocross that is very spectator friendly. (note to self: look into sponsoring a car…er….bike)

I first shot these races last summer and really enjoyed the strategies used by the racers and teams. I won’t go into it here because it’s like explaining a joke, it sucks the fun out of it. I will encourage you to go out next Wednesday night to the soccer fields at Burns Park in North Little Rock and check out a couple of races. Bring a lawn chair, a cooler with your favorite beverage and maybe a little bug spray. Normally, I would encourage you to join in on the race but I think it’s best that you watch a few races first to get the idea. You see, these folks are moving fast. If you don’t believe me, check out this video.

The next races will be held May 30, June 13 and 20. Here are a few photos from the race last night and of course there are tons more on our Flickr site that you can comment on, tag as favorite, share with your social media friends, download, use for wallpaper, turn into a Facebook profile photo or banner….

Unfortunately the first race of the evening starts a little too early for me to get out there in time. I’ll try to get there a little earlier next week.
