NWA Organizations Honored as Bicycle Friendly Businesses

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (January 24, 2020) – The League of American Bicyclists named its Bicycle Friendly Businesses from its nearly 1400 business partners in the bike movement in the United States. Deserving businesses are recognized with bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels and applicants receive feedback in becoming more welcoming to bicycling. Bentonville’s Runway Group and Walton Enterprises were awarded platinum status and The Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce with the bronze status.

Compton Gardens CyclingAccording to a recent article, the League believes, “Bikes are good for businesses and their employees. Through our Bicycle Friendly Business program, employers are recognized for their efforts to encourage a more welcoming atmosphere for bicycling employees, customers, and the community.”

The article states “the Bicycle Friendly Business program recognizes organizations for the role they play in the ecosystem of building a more Bicycle Friendly America for everyone.”

“There are few better grassroots ways to make bicycling an easy transportation choice for people than by destinations–the places we want and need to go–becoming Bicycle Friendly Businesses,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists. “We’re thrilled that these 153 businesses are part of this movement to make our communities stronger, safer and more connected through bicycling.”

Krista Cupp, Director of Communications for Runway Group LLC, highlighted the recognition as the result of ongoing initiatives by community partners investing in the cycling infrastructure for the Northwest Arkansas community. “The amount of support for our local biking infrastructure has been phenomenal. Thanks to community partners such as the Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce and Walton Enterprises, Northwest Arkansas has earned recognition for its impressive network of biking trails stretching from Bella Vista to Fayetteville. Our greatest opportunity is to be a gateway to cycling,” said Cupp.
