The release from the Road Runners Club of America organization starts out, “Since 1971, the RRCA has honored dedicated individuals for their outstanding service to the RRCA and the sport of distance running at its National Running Awards Ceremony, and we are delighted to announce the 2015 RRCA Distance Running Hall of Fame Inductees and the 2014 National Running Award recipients.”
And with that they recognized the contributions to the running community we in Arkansas have had the privilege to witness first hand. David Meroney, the Arkansas state representative for the Road Runners Club of America, has been a tireless worker, supporting runners throughout events from one mile runs to hundred mile ultra runs across the state. It would be wonderful if he just kept up with the paperwork and promotion involved in RRCA events but he has always gone above and beyond. He helps at aid stations, he paces marathon runners and he is always there with encouragement just as a runner is starting to doubt their abilities. It is wonderful when national organizations recognize not only the accomplishments but the passion of our local outdoor recreational supporters.
Congratulations to our friend, David Meroney on being recognized as the Outstanding RRCA State Representative of the Year. Thanks for all you do David.
