Peace Love and Goodwill

The Community Bicyclist

PLG2015-305

Our Mission
Goodwill Industries of Arkansas helps build lives, families, and communities by assisting people with disabilities and other special needs reach their highest potential through training, education, and employment services.

Our Vision
People in the communities we serve will have improved skills that provide long-term employment and a better standard of living.

In the past year, Goodwill has helped place over 4,000 Arkansans into competitive employment. When you donate or shop at Goodwill, the revenue is used to fund job training and placement services in the community. Goodwill provides services to those who might face challenges in the job market, such as older workers, workers with differing abilities and workers who need to update their skills to be more competitive in the job market. The Peace Love and Goodwill 5K from 2014 was such a success that the organizers added a 10K for 2015.

The 5K took the traditional route over the Big Dam Bridge before turning around and coming back to Murray Park. The 10K bypassed the Big Dam Bridge and went across the Two Rivers Bridge for a quick loop in the park and then back to the Start/Finish line. Race organizers sent the 10K out half an hour before the 5K so most of the runners would finish around the same time.

Volunteers and runners alike enjoyed good music, refreshments and a festive atmosphere before and after the race.
