The day-use area at Pinnacle Mountain State Park sometimes called the West Summit Parking Area will reopen at 5 pm today (5/15). This area is along Highway 300 near Barrett Road. This parking area and the parking for the East Summit Trailhead on Pinnacle Valley Road will be open allowing visitors to once again use the West Summit Trail, East Summit Trail, Kingfisher Trail, and Base Trail. Access will also be available to the Little Maumelle River Boat Ramp.
Park officials ask that visitors only park in designated parking spaces, overflow parking across Highway 300 will not be open to minimize physical distancing and to protect the trails from overuse. Rangers have been instructed to ticket vehicles for parking in non-designated areas. If the parking lot is full, the park is full, please respect the park staff and each other.
There will be portable toilets available but the restrooms will be closed. Remember to clean up after yourself when visiting the park. We recommend always follow the Leave No Trace Principles when enjoying the outdoors. Find more information on recent Arkansas State Park openings here.
