PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. (October 9, 2023) – Pulaski County will host the Big Dam Bridge North Plaza Ribbon Cutting and Dedication to the Judy Lansky Pavilion on Wednesday, October 18 at 10 a.m. in Cook’s Landing Park.
The new plaza aims to separate pedestrian and bicycle traffic by providing a space for visitors to congregate away from bike traffic. New features of the plaza also include benches, a bicycle repair station, a drinking fountain with a bottle filler, and most importantly, a pavilion named in honor of the late Judy Lansky.
Lansky was instrumental in creating the Big Dam Bridge 100 event and was a co-founder of the organization, Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas. She and her husband, Ken Gould, were the first co-chairs of the Big Dam Bridge Foundation. An avid cyclist, she was an advocate for cyclists and their safety.
The plaza, located next to the Big Dam Bridge ramp in Cook’s Landing Park, replaced the previous pavilion that was damaged during the Arkansas River Flooding in 2019. The $400,000 project was a partnership between Pulaski County Government and the City of North Little Rock.
Judge Hyde will cut the ribbon at the ceremony alongside North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick and Big Dam Bridge Foundation board members.
