BENTONVILLE, Ark. (July 23, 2025) — City officials marked the start of construction Tuesday on a significant relocation of the Razorback Greenway near mile marker 32.2, aiming to enhance safety and connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians between Bentonville High School and the Walmart campus.

“Currently, users must cross P Street to reach Highway 102,” said David Wright of Bentonville Parks and Recreation. The new route includes a tunnel under Highway 102, providing a safer and more accessible pathway for commuters and leisure riders alike.

The project is primarily financed through a grant from the Arkansas Department of Transportation, with Bentonville’s Capital Improvement Fund covering additional costs. Meanwhile, private funding will support the construction of the tunnel. NEC–Contractors and CEI Engineering Associates will oversee the trail construction.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 25, at noon. The public is invited to the Bentonville High School site, behind the Arend Arts Center at 1801 SE J Street, where music, light refreshments, and remarks will accompany the formal start. The trail is visible from 18th and P streets.

The Razorback Greenway plays a vital role in regional recreation and alternative transportation, linking cities such as Bella Vista and Rogers. This relocation aims to improve daily access and connectivity for residents and visitors.
