Razorback Rumble

Razorback Rumble – Arkansas embraces it’s first National Interscholastic Cycling Association Race

Race the Base

On the chilly Sunday morning of September 11th, Arkansas experienced its first National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) race at Lake Fayetteville. The Razorback Rumble, as the race was aptly named, brought almost 140 riders to participate in this event and history was made. The excitement was palpable as the riders entered the staging area and prepared to compete in their first race. For many riders, NICA is the first time they have had the opportunity to participate in any type of sport. The team jerseys and smiles on the children’s faces said it all. We belong! Inclusivity is one of the core principles of NICA. And thus, history was made!

The great thing about this race was the sense of community. Everyone from students to coaches to parents and the many volunteers came together to make the race a success. This is the real deal with a large start line, school tents and jerseys, course marshals, cowbells, music, food, and of course, awards.
