Time for the Ranch Run

Hex Carbon Repair

Last year, The Ranch Run made its debut on the running scene with almost 100 participants.  It provided runners, volunteers, and supporters the unique opportunity to visit the Soaring Wings Ranch, which benefits from the race.  It also served as the kickoff for the training program.  Making its return this year on Saturday, August 4 at 7 p.m., the registration fee of $20 includes a technical t-shirt, post run activities, and refreshments.

With a little more than 12 weeks until the 5th Soaring Wings Half Marathon, many are preparing to begin or jumpstart their training.  I have said before this half marathon is arguably one of the best half marathons in the state.  Dustin and Rachel Speer have organizing a tremendous event from beginning to end down to a science.

Leading up to race day, they put you in position to make the most out of the experience by offering a free training program.  Plans are designed for both runners and walkers regardless of one’s fitness level.  The training program, sponsored by Conway Regional Health System, incorporates “weekly workouts, advice from experts, and tips on how to maximize your race day performance.”

Bi-weekly training runs take place on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 8 a.m.  Sign up for the training and get the support you need.  If you want to engage virtually, follow along on the training blog or on the Soaring Wings Half Marathon Facebook page.

Can anyone guess where I’ll be on August 4 at 7 p.m. or October 27 at 8 a.m.?

You can usually find me lurking on Twitter @absolut_zer0 or reporting on races in the great state of Arkansas for Pace Per Mile.
