The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Little Rock District, will begin a significant roadwork and park enhancement project at Cranfield Park recreation area on Norfork Lake starting May 12, 2025.
The project will involve extensive paving, infrastructure upgrades, and other improvements that require the complete closure of Cranfield Park to all traffic—including camping, day use, and boat launching—for the duration of the work. Access to Cranfield Marina will remain open, though visitors should use caution around the work zone.
Due to high water levels, previously scheduled camping reservations had already been canceled. However, officials say the park will remain closed to ensure the safety of both visitors and work crews as construction progresses.
Scope of the Project
The enhancement project includes:
-
Resurfacing roads and paving parking areas
-
Improvements to boat ramp access
-
Additional parking for both standard and high-water conditions
-
Upgrades to park entry and exit points for better traffic flow and safety
Due to high water conditions and weather-related delays, there is no estimated completion date at this time. The Corps will provide updates on the project’s progress via its official social media channels.
