Arkansas gravel enthusiasts have a new date to circle on their calendars. On Saturday, May 16th, the Trail Team of North Central Arkansas (TTONCA) will host the inaugural GRAVELOCALYPSE in Marion County. Starting at 8:00 AM from Yellville City Park, this event marks the first premier gravel cycling experience of its kind for the area.
The Landscape of the Ozarks
Marion County offers a unique backdrop for cyclists, defined by its position on the northern edge of the Buffalo River Valley. The region is divided by the winding Crooked Creek, creating a landscape where water and rugged hills dictate the terrain. Riders can expect a mix of quiet, tree-covered lanes, crystal-clear creek crossings, and hidden natural springs.

Choose Your Challenge
GRAVELOCALYPSE is designed to be inclusive while maintaining the “unforgiving” nature of Ozark riding. The organizers have curated four distinct routes to accommodate different skill levels:
- 21 Miles: Designed as an introductory route for those new to the gravel scene.
- 37 Miles: A mid-range option for riders ready to test their limits.
- 55 Miles: An endurance-focused route featuring rewarding scenery.
- 74 Miles: The ultimate test of grit, stamina, and climbing ability.
Regardless of the distance chosen, participants should prepare for relentless hill climbs. To support riders through these physical demands, TTONCA will provide strategically placed aid stations across all courses to ensure everyone stays fueled and hydrated.
Riding for a Cause
The event serves a larger purpose beyond the finish line. TTONCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and maintaining trails in North Central Arkansas. All proceeds from GRAVELOCALYPSE directly support local trail projects, helping to establish the region as a primary destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
