The Raid the Rock Adventure Race, originally scheduled for Nov. 21, 2026, in Central Arkansas, has been postponed until April 3, 2027.

Organizers announced the change on the race registration website, citing unfortunate circumstances but expressing excitement about the opportunity to move the event to spring.

“We have been dreaming of a Spring race for some time, and now we are making it happen,” organizers said in their announcement.

First held in 2001, Raid the Rock has become a fixture in Arkansas’ adventure racing community. The event challenges participants to navigate courses using maps and compasses while tackling multiple outdoor disciplines, including mountain biking, trekking, paddling and potentially ropes challenges.

The 2027 event will feature two course options, a four-hour sprint race and a 12-hour adventure race. Both will return to the event’s urban roots, incorporating the Little Rock area into the adventure.

What Registered Racers Need to Know

Participants already registered for the November race have two options. They can transfer their registration to the April 3 event or cancel and receive a refund. Racers who paid more than the new early registration price and choose to transfer will receive a refund of the difference.

Get Ready!

The postponement also comes with a silver lining for registered racers and those still considering joining the adventure. With nearly five additional months to prepare, there’s plenty of time to assemble a team, build endurance and practice the skills that make adventure racing such a unique challenge. Mountain biking, trekking, paddling, map and compass navigation, and possibly ropes challenges all require different abilities.

More importantly, adventure racing is about teamwork, so this is a great opportunity to train together, learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and practice making decisions when everyone is tired, muddy and possibly a little lost. After all, getting lost is only half the fun if your whole team is along for the ride.

Registration remains open for the rescheduled event, with entry fees starting at $60 for the four-hour race and $100 for the 12-hour race.
