Weekends are usually reserved for outdoor adventures, stepping away from the Arkansas Outside worldwide headquarters to explore The Natural State. However, this weekend, we took a different route—sorting through over 13 years of photos documenting Arkansas’s outdoor recreation scene. While doing so, we stumbled upon a snapshot from August 2014, a reminder of a long-lost event on the Arkansas River—the Six Bridges Regatta.

The Six Bridges Regatta was an exhilarating spectacle and undoubtedly even more exciting for participants. This rowing and canoe race unfolded along the Arkansas River, stretching from Burns Park to the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge. The competition featured races of varying lengths, different crew sizes, and even some uniquely designed boats. To celebrate this cherished event, we’re sharing some of our favorite photos that capture its energy and spirit.

While the Six Bridges Regatta has not taken place in recent years, there is always hope for a revival. The Arkansas River remains a prime location for competitive rowing, and with growing interest in water sports in the region, it’s possible that we could see this beloved event return in the future. Until then, we cherish the memories and celebrate the legacy left by the regatta, looking forward to the day when rowers once again take to the water under the city’s six bridges.
