Little Rock, AR – Metroplan, the regional planning organization for Central Arkansas, recently awarded $2.3 million in transportation alternative program (TAP) funding to eight local governments. This funding will support the design and construction of various active transportation projects, aiming to enhance pedestrian and cycling infrastructure throughout the region and advance Central Arkansas Active Transportation initiatives.

- Cabot: Construction of a 2-mile, 14-foot-wide trail connecting Cabot High School to Kerr Station Park.
- Little Rock: Design of a portion of the Jonesboro Children’s Trail.
- Pulaski County: Construction of a separated path for bikes and pedestrians along 3.7 miles of Old Highway 161.
- Shannon Hills: Construction of a 12-foot-wide trail connecting Tall Pine Drive to the proposed Southwest Trail.
- Sherwood: Construction of a sidewalk connecting neighborhoods to the proposed Regional Greenways Route.
- Ward: Funding for their Safe Routes to School program.
